Mammoth Ski Trip 2007

So to start off 2007, a few friends and I had planned on going up to the mountains to ski. In Los Angeles, you have 2 choices, Big Bear or Mammoth. In our minds, Mammoth will always be the winner with that choice, as they have more snow, bigger runs, and a nicer village area. So Gadow, Traci, Tracy, Kasey, Mindi, Youxi and I, all left Friday afternoon to get up there and start the festivities.

After a vigorous workout of beers and Wii tennis, (video at the top) we went to sleep with only 6 hours til we needed to get up. Probably not the best idea, but we managed to do ok. On Saturday, even with our soreness from Wii Sports, we got up and hit the mountain. Tracy and Kasey took their first snowboarding lessons, while the rest of us headed up to ski/snowboard on the runs with the most good snow. The sun was out and the snow was ok, but at least there wasn't too much ice. We had a good day of terrain parks, lunch, and a few shots of captain from Youxi's flask. That night, the hot tub and sauna felt great and the Pabst Blue Ribbon seemed to be a good conversation starter in the "Jaboozie." Traci cooked a wonderful Shrimp Scampi pasta dinner and we finished the night off with some TV theme Trivia and incredibly hard Trivia Pursuit. Just in case anyone is wondering, Traci knows more about Arts and Literature then anyone I've ever played that game with.

On Sunday a few of us wanted to hit the mountain again, while the rest of us headed off to Sledz inner tubing hill. We paid $20 for 1 hour of sledding. At first Kasey was scared to go down herself, but after a few slides with her mom, she was ready to go speed down the course. She did great, even after a awesome crash, which I luckily got on video. Kasey was a trooper and we all laughed about it later at Roberto's Mexican restaurant for lunch. (See Video at the top)

Overall the trip was a success for everyone. Kasey and Tracy got to snowboard for the first time, we got lucky with beautiful, warm weather, and we all had a fun filled weekend with friends to start 2007 off with a bang, with nobody getting hurt. Even though I'm still waiting to see Youxi's Big Crash video.
