Los Angeles July 10th-13th
We only booked 3 nights in LA because of all the bad reviews we heard from people, we didn’t want to waist our time there if it was horrible! We got the greyhound bus from santa fe station in san diego to the LA station. It took 2 and half hours. There were alot of weird people on the bus, I just kept my sunglasses on and went to sleep! Arrived at the station at 8pm. It was dark and we were in downtown LA. SCARY!! There were homeless people, bums and rough people everywhere. We crossed the street to get the bus 33 to venice beach. Two Mexican rough looking men came over to us shouting “white girls white girls, u need taxi?” U know where u going etc... We just looked away and kept heading for bus stop.
Bus shows up 15minutes later thank god because between me and rhona we had counted 35 people lingering around the street in corners and just standing around. We met a couple on the bus, the girl was from London and her boyfriend was from New York. They told us exactly where our hostel was and how
to get there. They were lovely! We got off at our stop and walked to the hostel it was now 10pm. It took 2 hours to go like 9 miles because of buses and different transfers. We were shown to our 30 bed dorm, hmmmmmmmmmm the ground had 3 different floorings going on, the beds were very dirty looking and you had to do your own sheets and stuff. We were not impressed. I quizzed every person i saw coming in to the room asking did anyone get bed bugs or any bed have them haha. I think people think im just a pcyhsco cause i do it all the time lol. We walked to the supermarket and i bought a turkey pitta wrap i was starved!
Saturday 11th July
We met to irish girls this morning in the hostel from Dublin. Rachel and suzanne they said they were going out in santa monica tonight and we should join them. So we said we’d meet them back at the hostel at about 7pm. We then walked to venice beach. We were staying on venice boulevard but its still 2 mile walk to beach. It was ok though. Got to
the beach and had a look at all the shops along the strip down, we liked LA so far. Dunno what everyone is raving on about it bein full of freaks and weirdo’s. Only people i seen that were strange were the bums in downtown and every city has them!! We passed loads of doctor marijuana shops, people actually selling prescriptions on the street for $180.00 and all you got to do is go and buy it then legally. Weird. We passed this guy on the prom and he had a python snake around his neck. Rhona was adamant she wanted to hold it, I nearly lost my life, ewwww discusting! Hahaha... I got some pics with her holding it! He said it came from south America and it cost him $500.00. Rhona paid him $2 to hold it! We layed out on the famous “muscle beach” -its actually called that! There is an outside gym and all the men and women are there doing weights and exercises
So funny. We headed back to the hostel and on the way we stopped and got potatoes that we could microwave and have baked potato. I was dying for this! Oh and
guess what, i started to eat tuna today for the first time. Rhona got tuna salad in a little container. It was gorgeous, had mayo with scallions. So yummy and i don’t do fish!!!! We got ready, had few drinks in the dorm and then got taxi to santa monica. We went in to circle bar with the girls, within seconds they were talking to lads, me and rhona got drinks...we asked them did they want any...suzanne called me over saying when they go out they don’t buy their own drinks they chat up lads who they know will buy drinks for them. In the space of 40minutes me and rhona had gotten 3 drinks and they were still waiting fot theses guys to buy them drink...whats the point id rather buy it myself and drink it rather than wait.
We ended up in gallaghers across the street it was an irish pub the girls wanted to go in there. They found more guys in there to chat up and buy them drinks. The pub was full off didley die music... and all the bars close at 1.30am in LA. Such a stupid rule don’t ya think!
Sunday 12th
July
Got up at 11, we set off on our way to see as much of LA as possible. We were told at the hostel to get a day pass on the bus because to do and see what we wanted it would be 13 buses! We got on the 333 bus asking for an all day pass. The driver looked at me sayn i don’t do day passes, i said well where do i get one, she said try the liquor store AMMMMMMMMMMM liquor store, why would we try the liquor store for a bus pass. Surely they should have them on the buses!!!!! We searched everywhere asking any randomer where could we get one. No-one knew so we just had to pay $1.50 per bus ride, we decided to cut some of it out. We got to santa monica its really nice here. Nice beach and town. Really clean too!
We had to get off here to get the next bus to Beverly hills. The bus drivers are so god damn ignorant, you;d wonder why the hell they work with the public. Its there job to help you out if u don’t know what bus to take, but
noooo Americas are just the laziest people on earth so they couldn’t be bothered helping you out! We were 2 hours trying to get to bev hills. But my god when we got there it was so worth it. Its absolutely amazing. Everyone is dressed up to the nines, even baby babies!! We walked down rodeo drive, all the expensive shops down here and its where they filmed pretty woman, its gorgeous, even the lay out of it! We were walking down just amazed by how pretty it was. After this we got 2 more buses to Hollywood boulevard where all the stars are. I think Hollywood boulevard is really nice, and everyone we have met says its a dump and very rough part of town. We seen the Kodak theatre and the Chinese theatre too! We were walking back to the bus stop when we seen Michael Jacksons star...it was a memorial place now there was a huge crowd around it and everyone crowding in for pictures. The star was covered in flowers, pictures, candles, cards. Went back to the hostel and met emma we cooked dinner and just chilled out for the night!
