We're home! Well, Thad's home in L.A. anyway where I'm hanging out with him until after Thanksgiving. We were both sad to see the trip come to an end, and would have loved to have traveled more. We just kept listing the things we missed so we wouldn't be too disappointed to be returning:
· Friends/Family - not just seeing them but being able to talk to them regularly. I have to admit I'm really looking forward to all of the parties over the next month and getting to see everyone!
· Weather - it was 36 degrees the morning we left Paris, and 75 when we landed in L.A. later that day. We're both tired of cold rainy weather and thrilled to be back in the CA sunshine!
· Communicating easily - yes, most people we encountered spoke some degree of English, but we really missed having entire conversations with perfect strangers. I was really happy on Nov 16 when I went to my hairdresser, not just because I was finally getting my hair doing for the first time in 10 weeks, but because I had 3 great conversations with complete strangers :)
· Clothes/shoes - we both really missed our clothes and our shoes, it's like we have whole new wardrobes now. And the clothes shopping is much better here, a good colorful variety and much more reasonably priced!!
· Working out! I'm working out at Gold's gym, until I get back to my house, which is a 5 min walk from Thad's. So far I've been to a yoga class and a stretch class, and I'm SORE! We'll see how I make it through my jazz class this afternoon ;) Thad's thrilled to be riding his bike everywhere again.
· Phones yeah, we missed them… and as I've mentioned numerous times, I really missed my laptop and being able to logon easily.
Our first meal back here was a veggie burger at Astro which I've been craving since before we left. Has all of the fixin's including avocado. We've also had Thai food which I was really craving, and we missed cooking.
We're looking forward to Thanksgiving at our friend Deirdre's and then Thad's 40th bday (well, I can't say that Thad is looking forward to that ;) and just getting back into the swing of things. I need to buy a new car so doing a lot of research on that, and Thad is back at work already. Fortunately I don't have to go back to work until Dec 10 :)
