Dilys with LA Cops Chuck & Larry
Chuck & Larry may not have been their real names but ive always wanted to meet a Chuck & Larry cop duo. Outside the Original Pantry
Armed with our map, lonely planet and sunnies Hayden & I set our sights on discovering LA, so here it goes!
The Original Pantry Hayden finally woke up at around 7:30am. Considering i had been awake since 3am i was well and truly ready to find some good food for breakfast. While the hotel was fantastic (*thumbs up to the Doubletree*) there was only so much you could do in the early hours of the morning. I had the feeling that the concierge at the front desk thought i was weird as i asked him a gazillion questions, went on the internet, went to the gym and went for a walk all before 8am. Anyway, we finally took the train (whoops more precisely i mean 'tram' or 'trail') to Downtown to discover what was on offer. Our eyes first glanced at a Starbucks and a Robek's juice but my hunger pains were no match with what they could offer. We then saw the LA Information Visitors Centre where we had a great recommendation for breakfast - The Original Pantry - which supposedly never closes and is much loved by locals. Ive never seen this before and im sure many of

Breakfast at the Original Pantry
Our first ever meal in America!! woohoo
you havent either, but there was a line of people waiting to get a seat for breakfast. This was not like a dim sum crowd that congregates on a busy sunday after church as the line was somewhat straight and turned the corner. Anyway this was the best thing that every happened to us because we met some LA Cops! [
think 3rd Watch & LAPD Blue]They were cool, we took photos haha. Too bad they werent holding donuts :(
Rodeo Drive Okay call me dumb (well dont literally but i was calling myself it at the time) but when we woke up that morning it was cloudy and dark - thus we concluded it would be cold with possible shower. WE WERE SO WRONG. It was boiling hot at about 11am and i was walking down Rodeo Drive in boots and jeans (bad bad idea). Nevertheless we persevered and survived the heat as all the shops were air conditioned (as one might expect being so expensive and all). Julia Roberts [
think Pretty Woman] would have been so proud, i believe that at least 20% of the shop assistants actually believed we looked like we could afford items in the

store. We also headed into the Beverly Centre for some shopping where i scored my Sony laptop cover - my first LA purchase :D
LA is big and has big things, Perth is small and has small things From the first steps we took out of the airport, Hayden & I noticed something different, perhaps you may even call it odd or unusual, but everything in LA is big. The traffic lights, the pedestrian crossings, the walk/dontwalk signs, the cars, the donuts, the size of your softdrink, the nesquick, the lollies box, the pop tart box, the butter, the beer, the cereal box, the chip packets etc. First we thought it only had to do with road equipment but after a quick stop by at Food for Less we discovered its EVERYTHING. *Please note the following photos may contain images that are harmful*
[Tips for the day:]
1. The weather first thing in the morning is deceiving, always think it will be hot.
2. Day pass for the train is your best friend
3. The little box in the Louis Vitton store is $2800
