Hello from the
city of angels, the valley of ten million insanities, Lalaland, L.A. or whatever you want to call Los Angeles, California.
I arrived at LAX last thursday afternoon and it was already warmer than I thought (and definitely hotter than in Switzerland this summer).
The first thing I learned was that we are spoiled in Switzerland with our rush hours and public transportation. If you're stuck in traffic in
LA that means you're stuck for
at least an hour on a seven-lane freeway and everybody tries to drown the other people's music with their own.
Also there are tons of
Bentleys, Cadillacs, Maybach Landaulets, Bugattis, Rolls-Royces, Lamborghinis and Fisker Karmas (which i personally like the best). It might surprise you that I know these cars names but my cab driver explained the advantages and disadvantages of each and everyone. 😉
My first night at the Dixie Hollywood Hotel wasn't that bad despite the jetlag and the fire trucks (they are about 5 times louder and 500 times more frequent than in Switzerland).
On Saturday I explored
Hollywood on my own which mainly existed of me taking some pictures of the Walk of Fame stars
and crawling from one Starbucks to another (yes, it still is that hot and jetlag didn't help my acclimatization).
I was pretty lucky the first day when
Kevin Jonas from the Jonas Brothers walked into the same Starbucks I was sitting in and drinking my iced coffee. I wanted to ask him to take a picture with me buuuut
my swiss manners told me not to because he was on the phone. Also have I seen
Justin Biebers car, which is really nice but I wonder how he got his divers license.
He's a terrible driver! Sunday and Monday (Labor day) I met up with my friend Corina Tritten who is also traveling the US by herself. With her car we made a trip to
Hollywood and up the hills to the
griffith observatory where we had a better view of the
Hollywood sign and all over
Downtown LA, West Hollywood, Westwood and Santa Monica. It was breathtaking and I suppose Los Angeles is the biggest city I’ve ever been to J
On Labor day we decided to stalk some celebrities homes in Beverly Hills such as
Bruce Springsteen, George Clooney, Chace Crawford and Elvis Presley. Afterwards
we decided to have a picnic on Venice Beach and we enjoyed the last rays of the lovely Californian sun.
Today was my first day at school. We didn’t really do anything because we all had tests taken and received a lot of information.
Food is amazing, as always. Vegan restaurants are the new trend and they are actually really, really good.
I hope you're all doing well in Switzerland. I’ll try sending some Californian heat to Europe. 😉
I'll keep you updated!
Love from California!
PS: I also experienced my first earthquake but everything is perfectly fine. It was only 3.3 magnitude and it felt like being on a rollercoaster.
