Residents (Fellows) Scheme Away
Dr. Chan and Carver scheming how to take over DMEI next year when they do their fellowships. Lower level residents have their espionage going to thwart any scheme that will cost them surgical cases.
May 24, 2012 (Los Angeles, LAX) The team going to China this year includes Dr. Greg Skuta
, Chairman of the OU Department of Ophthalmology and President of the Dean McGee Eye Institute
and his son Matt. Dr. Brad Farris
(neuro-ophthalmologist), Dr. Annie Chan (senior resident and DMEI Cornea Fellow next year) and Dr. Adam Carver
(senior resident and Retina Fellow at DMEI next year. We left two other senior residents at home to take care of business...and because we took them to Swaziland on a similar trip earlier this year (Dr. Hobbs and Dr. Adesina). We will be meeting Dr. Ron Kingsley
(medical retina specialist at DMEI) in Chengdu, and Dr. Gene Anderson
(Director of Research at DMEI) will arrive in Chengdu on Sunday. An ophthalmology team from Kaiser Permanente (Paul Chen, Eric Kau (pre med student) will meet us here and Dr. Yun Liu (Kaiser Permanente corneal surgeon) will meet us in Chengdu with her son Andy (who has been on previous trips with us). Both Dr. Chen and Dr. Liu speak Chinese (as does our own Annie Chan), so we should be able to find restrooms, get directions and most importantly find some coffee!
