We made to LA - home of the rich and famous!! Our first GreyHound experience was quite good. The trip didn’t seem to take as long as expected and the coach was clean and even had a loo. We checked into our hostel (USA Hostels located just off Hollywood Boulevard) and it soon became clear that the dorm was full of girls as it looked like Topshop mixed with Boots had exploded all over the room! QUIET ON THE SET!! We woke up this morning after getting some much needed sleep. We said goodbye to our island paradise and got onto our ferry for our ride back to San Pedro Dock. After a tough 9 rounds of golf (a card game) and a challenge, Kelsey walked away the golf card champion! LA City Tour Due to our short time scale in LA, we really hadn't too much time to see a lot so we opted to do the LA city tour that our hostel offered. Los Angeles is a ridiculously big city and the only comparable place we have ever been in size is London. Only the public transport system here is practically non existant, save for a few rickety buses and a beleagured subway system. Los Angeles: The City Of Angels Arriving in LAX (Los Angeles International Airport), we were sitting on the runway for an additional hour before one of the largest airports in the world found an available gate for the plane. At this point we were beginning to think that it would be a bit of a nightmare getting through passport control and customs, making our estimated arrival at the hostel of 4pm a bit of a dream. When a once in a lifetime opportunity comes around, you want to make the most of it. Don’t waste the day as my Mother would say. It’s a little disheartening when your only means of transport doesn’t agree with you. Universal Studios probably opens at around 9am, but I didn’t bother to find out. I didn’t bother, because the earliest pickup from the coach was at 10am - which should get you there at 11am. By that time of the morning, the actual opening time becomes somewhat of a moot point. This photo is taken at Grauman's Chinese Theatre, Hollywood, California The final part of our tour, we'd originally added LA to our itinerary as we couldn't stand a diret flight to London from Hawaii with only a brief stop over at LAX so we added a few extra days in Hollywood. The home of the biggest filming studio in the world and a designated city in it’s own right, complete with Mayor (Bill Cosby), hospital, post office and zip code, Universal is quite unique.
