The muds coming down on US1
Wouldn’t you know it, we happen to be in Los Angeles while they are getting the most rain they have received in recorded history. We made the best of it and yes, there were a few breaks in the downpours. During our stay we went to Disneyland, the new Disney park California Adventure, and much more. It was interesting (and a little scary) to drive along some of the roads that are having mudslides. Another cool place to visit right in downtown LA is the La Brea Tar Pits which has more Ice Age mammal bones discovered there than anywhere else [View Full Entry]

I'm back from all my adventures (I'm not so sure about this -20 business that awaited me in Edmonton) but I did promise an entry from the glamerous world of LA/Hollywood. The flight back from Kuala Lumpur/Taipai to Los Angeles was plagued by delays. The most memorable part of that plane ride was being told to exit the plane in Taipai with all my carry on luggage and that my gate was A4. After coming back from the bathroom, I tried to enter the lounge the same way I came despite a curious no entry sign. Well, it turns out that [View Full Entry]

Need a journey?

Hey folks, Here we are - our final spot in the 2 weeks of the US of A. We opted for the money saving option of travelling overnight on the greyhound from San Francisco to Hollywood. Fortunately this time we foudn a seat by the emergency exit, which meant extra leg room...and that was about it really. The journey took a dooable 8 hours, during which we had a stop at a Burger King, in the middle of nowhere. Had to make a loo stop so followed the other bus dwellers into the BK and foudn the restrooms. And then I [View Full Entry]

Today was spent updating all these entries and adding photos at an internet cafe 2 minutes from our hostel. Believe it or not it's still raining and after an early morning call to Disney we were advised that the rides were closed and there was no point in making the journey. We're both gutted about this but Fiona especially, the weather really has been mental here so there's not many photo's, it's been a good time though and we've met a lot of great people, LA really is party central but we're looking forward to Hawaii and that wonderful beach, roll [View Full Entry]

Guess what? It's still raining, big style. We spent most of the day in bed then the hostel put on movies and pizza at night so we just chilled in the TV lounge. We've met a few people here that were in our last hostel in San Francisco, I can't remember them but one dude mentioned me dancing on the table on Hogmanay, it's a small world after all. We're hoping to go to Disney tomorrow but are worried about the weather. [View Full Entry]

Up early this morning and met a Scottish girl at breakfast, it's still battering down today so we're at a loss, a guy from the hostel, Boogie, is organising a sight seeing trip so we put our names down. The tour was great, a full day, 12 of us from the hostel in this mini-van with a mental German dude driving and talking us through it, what a day, you really need a car to see LA and this was defo the best way to do it. First stop on the tour was Beverly Hills and Bell Air to see some [View Full Entry]

It started to snow as we left our hotel in Vegas, not a good sign when we got to the airport and our flight was already delayed by 2 hours. Took off about 4 hours late and landed in LA some 40 mins later, we could have got a bus here in that time, not to worry though, we landed in LA and it was pouring down and it's not stopped since. LA is HUGE, it took us over an hour to get from LAX airport to our hostel, it's in the Melrose part of town, think Melrose Place the TV [View Full Entry]

At the Airport before we left. Thanks for coming out guys!!! We love ya:)
Leaving NZ proved to be quite a mission in itself as our flight got delayed due to technical problems, dodgy! Arrived at LAX and Emily met us there. Had the worst taxi ride ever!! The driver didnt go under 80mph the whole time. Spent the whole time holding on for dear life:) Spent a lovely two nights at emilys sisters apartment located in west hollywood. On the tuesday we went on a massive hike to find the social security place. Then with anna maires great naviagational skills ended up in downtown LA instead of the beach. This was absolutly fine though [View Full Entry]
