One for the girls- I'd just like to thank ...
Hi all, another HUGE day. Got up at 8am and went on a day tour of LA.
- Started at Farmer's Market- market food & outdoor shopping centre (The Grove)
- Then went Downtown LA, which we found boring. Went past Staples centre where we will be visiting tomorrow to go to the Ice Hockey. Just a couple of markets. Although the tour guide wasn’t too keen in showing us around so maybe we didn't see everything. Bought a scarf for $3.50 it was dam cold there.
- Then went down Hollywood Boulevard. (Already seen this as it is just a block away from where we are staying). But anyway I got a picture with my favorite, Superman! Looked at the stars on the footpath and looked at the celebrity hands etc. Had a look around Chinese Theater and Kodak Theater (home of the Oscars and Golden Globes- which are on just after we leave- dammit). I was also awarded my Oscar for Best Teacher here (see photo)
- Then we went down Sunset Boulevard which is home to the popular night clubs. Went past the Viper Bar which is owned by Johnny Depp and where River Phoenix died.
- Then

Very nice Benn! Not sure about what the guy thinks tho!
hit Beverly Hills 90210! Very fancy. Just like the movies. Palm trees etc.
- Went down Rodeo Drive (expensive boutique shops where celebrities shop). Went into the Regent Beverly Wilshire- which is where Julia Roberts stayed in Pretty Women. Used their toilets- very fancy.
- Then we headed to Marina Del Rey & Fisherman’s Village- very boring and dull there
- Moved onto Venice Beach- I loved it. Lots of palm trees, green grass and then the beach. Lots on market stalls along the esplanade. Apperantly this is where Baywatch was based. Also home of 'muscle beach' (a gym out in the open to pump iron). The guy asked Benn if he worked out, and suggested that he give it a go!!!
- Then to Santa Monica, which was also good. Great shopping (kinda set up like Cavill Ave in QLD) and nice Santa Monica Pier. I asked a Copper for a photo (ive had a few!) and said to him can we just wait for ur mate (so he could be in it to)- he is like in a sarcastic voice "hey mate! come take a picture) you dont realise what you say- they pick up on everything. asked a guy where the toilets are and he laughed and said you mean the rest room or lavatorie. Yeah whatever!

We only stayed at each destination for half an hour if we are lucky. So we will endeavour to go back to these places over the following days.

On our way back to the hotel, we got some free tickets to late night show called the 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'. So we went back at 6pm and lined up at the front for an hour until the line started moving. They let everyone in, bar about 15 people including us. It was full! I was spewing. He said wait here and there might be some people who didn’t turn up. So we waited another half hour and finally he said 8 more. Benn and I were 7 & 8!!! So that was a bit exciting. It was similar to Rove Live. They had Matthew McConahey (yeh!!!!!!- from How to Lose a Guy in 10 days) and two basketball players from Houston Rockets (Andrew they were Yao Ming & Tracey Mcgrady- the asian guy was 7 ft 5- HUGE). But much to my disgrace Matthew McConahey had to reschedule

coz he couldn’t get there in time. I was shattered, I was thinking of things I could do to get on the show and give him a hug- he is soooo nice. But no, disappointing.

After the show, again, Benn was still hungry! So we headed to Hooters for some Nachos. Interesting restaurant with some lovely ladies. Benn got a picture- he was happy. Our waitress left her slip on our table- which also had the instructions of what to do step by step. (keep that one for the scrapbook).

We finally headed back to our hotel. It’s now 12am and we are heading on a limo tour of the Hollywood star homes tomorrow morning. Shall be interesting.

A couple of things we have noticed here that are just weird
- toilets- lots of water and they suck everything away which is loud and scary
- when crossing the lights there is no little red man, but a huge red hand. And a countdown starts from 10 secs letting you know how long you have to cross (which is cool)
- The sea gulls here are massive (just like some of the poeple!)
- tipping is big

Arnie's Hands at Chinease Theater
here. Not sure when or how much to give ?
- you get two cheesburgers with your cheeseburger meal at maccas
- the roads are very bumby esp on the freeway- its like your on a train
- we are sick on converting things. From us dollars to aus dollars, miles to kilometres, pounds to kilograms, galans to litres and yards to meters.
