What an amazing 4 days we have had….Los Angeles certainly is the land of the ricj=h and famous! I will start from the beginning back when we were in Sydney International Airport. Peter and I were sitting waiting to board our flight and as usual, Im looking around, scanning the crowd when Im suddenly drawn to someone I thought I knew….In my head, I began thinking “Oh My God, Oh My God, Oh My God”….I tapped Peter but the words wouldn’t come out! Eventually I got the words out.. ”Peter, Its Russell Crowe” and at that Peter followed him as he thought I was telling some lies!! Well he soon found out that in fact Russell Crowe had just walked past us, wearing black Adidas Track Pants and a black long sleeved top he boarded our flight to Los Angeles. We were both trembling at the sheer thought of having seen him!! We happily got onto the flight and went to our Economy seats knowing that our mate Russell was also onboard!!
All I will say here is, we left the flight with an Autograph from Mr Crowe!! I wont go into the ins and outs!!
Saturday, we landed in
Los Angles and after getting to the hotel, the hunger was upon us so we headed to the local Eddie Rockets for some fast food before heading for a quick snooze. Peter sits with his back to the wondow and again, Im people watching……Again Im speechless…….Gwen Stefani walks past! Wow she is beautiful!! Peter got turned round just in time and we had a great look. She was with her children, husband and a few others!! We couldn’t believe our luck- 2 big celebs in less than 24 hours!!
On Sunday, we commenced our tour of Los Angeles. We started off at 7.30am, in the heat, with a walking tour locally to see the LA Times building, LAPD’s new headquarters, Disney Concert Hall and a few other historical buildings in the Downtown LA area. After that, our coach took us to Hollwood Boulevard and took a stroll through the crowded Walk of Fame!! Then we jumped on the coach and headed for Santa Monica, where we drove through Rodeo Drive. We spent some time at Santa Monica beach. Its pretty! And we walked to the Santa Monica Pier, where the famous Route 66 ends! Peter and I then took
a walk through 3rd Street Promenade which is lined with shops and cafes!! After this we went to Venice Beach, which is known for “Strange” clientele! We didn’t really see any. There are so many people here with lots of stalls and tacky items! There is an area here called ‘Muscle Beach,’ where Arnold Schwarzenegger began pumping iron!! Now lots of muscle men/women work out here and compete against one another etc!! Unfortunately it was closed on Sundays so we didn’t get to see any of these men/women!!
The weather has been SO great since we arrived- hot and breezy!! So Monday, we spent all day outside soaking up the rays! Again, up and out early, we went on the ‘Stalker’ tour…. I mean Celebrity Homes Tour!! We seen so many and when looking back on the pictures could only remember a few. The Celebs all live in Beverley Hills. Their fire hydrants are all painted silver…However, whilst in Beverly Hills they are meant to be known as ‘Platinum’ as it sounds more upscale!! Beverly Hills is just amazing…..Houses are amazing. Cars are amazing. Trees and landscaping is amazing. I couldn’t find a bad thing to say about it!! It’s
so posh and fancy, that behind houses there is an alley-way where the rubbish is collected as the home owners didn’t want bin lorries destroying the look of the nice houses! MENTAL… Anyway, houses like Tom Cruise and the Beckhams are high up in the hills and deliberately close to other houses so that they are more difficult to spot! Tom actually has an American flag raised high in the air when he is home and when he is out of town the flag is lowered! The like of Madonna’s house is surrounded by trees so it cannot be seen at all. We seen where some celebs like to eat and drink, where Halle Berry had her hit and run accident, where Lindsay Lohen had her first accident and where certain celebs had died. It was a great trip and our driver was so knowledgeable! We also passed the Beverly Hills hotel, where we later heard the Jackson Family had been that day!!
After that trip, we went to the Hop on & off bus and only touched the edge of it as it is so vast! We got off at Rodeo Drive and had a walk up the immaculately
clean street and prayed we would see more celebs but no luck this time! We saw where Julia Roberts in Pretty women went to shop and they told her to leave! And we saw what hotel she stayed at in this movie. I got a pic outside the most expensive shop in the world. This shop is by appointment only, the minimum purchase is $1000 and if you don’t purchase anything, your credit card is charged $1500! The most expensive car in the world usually hangs out on Rodeo Drive, it’s a $3 million Bugatti however, someone smashed the windows on it a few weeks ago so it is not parked on Rodeo Drive as often!! We were very disappointed! On the up side, we went to the Cheesecake Factory and had beautiful lunch, no cake though!
Monday night we were meant to get Limousines to the Los Angeles Dodgers Baseball game, however the company messed up our order and sent us 2 black cars, a jeep and a yellow taxi! We got the black cars to the game and went to the ‘All you can eat’ area and then to our seats! Baseball was mostly good, boring at times
but exciting too. The Dodgers won so that was good!
Today, Tuesday, we went to the Grammy museum, seen exhibitions from John Lennon, Michael Jackson and Bob Marley. It was interesting also! After that we just pottered around and went round a few shops and at that the day is over. We depart from Los Angeles tomorrow and drive to San Diego, which we hope will be as good!
