Our suiteIt had a lounge room with a bar, two balconies, bathroom and two toilets. Very nice.
2/10 Well howdy boys and girls. After the bus ride from hell we finally arrived at Disneyland. Why was it the bus ride from hell.........the trip was supposed to take 4 1/2 hours but ended up being closer to 7, firstly it was nearly an hour late picking us up, then we had a pompous driver and loud mouth hostess who talked over the movie and had their radio turned up so high while listening to their election debate. Then to make matters worse they had other drop offs before our hotel, at one of these stops an elderly lady with her two grandchildren realised one of their bags was missing, which held us up for another 1/2 an hour. Didn't get to our hotel until 11pm, checked in and off to our room only to find it only had a king bed and a rock hard wooden day bed. Not happy, all they could offer us instead was a room facing the pool and not the resort view we had paid for, we had no choice but to take it (3 in the bed would have been a little uncomfortable). After changing rooms we headed for the bar for a
stiff drink but I started to get heartburn and a headache so I went off to bed. Jac and Joodz decided they were going to go and demand what we had booked using me as and excuse saying, I'd been so stressed out that it had made me ill, also that it was my birthday and I had been planning this trip for months. They spoke to the duty manager who apologised and promised to change our room the next afternoon. Things were looking up.
3/10 Caught the monorail to the original Disneyland Park at opening time and headed straight for the rides. Our longest wait to get on any ride was no more than 15 minutes. We rode; the Matterhorn, Rocky Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, River Jungle Cruise, Paddle Steamer, Pirates of the Caribbean and Indianna Jones. All were excellent. By the time we'd been on all of these it was late afternoon and time to check with reception for our new room.......the squeaky wheel really does get the oil cause as a way of apology for messing us around we were given a two room suite, with a resort view so we could see the fireworks. Headed back
Paddle SteamerCruises around a river course that has robotic horses, indians, moose, deer etc. Just like being in the old west.
to Downtown Disney for some dinner then back to our suite for drinks and fireworks, but nothing ever goes according to plan, fireworks cancelled due to high winds (typical).
4/10 Happy Birthday to me :o), I've joined the golden club. Off to Disney's California Adventure Park, we headed straight to Soaring Over California, what a ride, it was so good we went back and did it again later. Next stop Grizzly River Run, where you get a little wet, some people come prepared with their plastic poncho's (wusses), it was good we went back for seconds. Then over to California Screamin', this time I was a wuss and backed out, Jac and Joodz went on it and I believe she screamed the whole way. That was all for that park, at least for us anyway, not keen on the giant drop or the ferris wheel and the rest of the rides were a bit kiddy. So back to the other park for seconds on Rocky Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain, we also went on Splash Mountain which we had missed the day before......that was the longest we lined up for, 1 hour, but it was fun cause you talk to
the other people and watch the sights, boy were there some sights.......who would have thought we'd be at Disneyland for Gay Day, the parks were full of ac/dc's. Jac was a hit, he got quite a few passes LOL.
Went back to our room late afternoon for drinks and to do some washing, then back to Downtown Disney again for dinner. After din dins headed back to our room for more drinks and hopefully the fireworks, yippee they actually happened and were well worth the wait. In bed by 11 for 9am pick up to San Diego.
Rocky Mountain RailroadRoller coaster that takes you through mines and old western settings, zips along and shakes the shit out of you.
Space MountainThis is one of my favourites, roller coaster in the dark (similar to the Scooby Doo ride at Warner Bros World). Loved it.
