Today, we left Las Vegas. We took our time leaving, though. We waited until almost the last minute to check out of our hotel room, then sat in the food court (eating amaretto gelato-- yum!) trying to figure out where we were going to go next. We finally decided on Fresno because that's how far we felt like driving. So, after one last glance at our hotel, we started the home leg of our journey. [View Full Entry]

We have been in super sunny California for just over two weeks now. Andy boy is it HOT! It's been over a 100 degrees since we arrived. Our first outing was to Clovis water slide park which was good fun with the family as my Aunt Janie and cousin Anabel were also visiting from Texas. Mostly we have spent time indoors during the hottest part of the day , keeping hydrated and enjoying lots of laughs with the family. Sean tells me the rain is heavy in England so I guess Sunny days are better than the British weather. This past [View Full Entry]

These past few days have been really fun. Mom and I spent four days with my uncle, aunt, and two cousins in Escondido. Our family is so kind and hilarious! We ate at this restaurant, La Farfalla, which serves gluten-free food that is really tasty! I had hummus with veggies that was very healthy and delicious! Thursday night we had burritos with some of my cousins’ friends. They were yummy! The tortillas kept on breaking , but the burrito fillings were very tasty. Thursday night was fun, everyone was playing a game and/or just talking. Mom and I both loved being [View Full Entry]

A Bridge!
The Happy Family!

So pretty much everything went according to plan. We flew from Philadelphia to Phoenix and then took a connecting flight to Fresno, California. I read a bunch of “The Road” on the ride to get ready for the movie coming out soon :) When we landed we got our rental car (Ford Escape, pretty nice) and proceeded to have the car ride from hell. We had to drive 95 miles from Fresno to Sequoia National Park, which doesn’t seem like a far drive. However, as you’ll see in the video, it took us an hour and a half to drive the [View Full Entry]

30th June, 2009. Travel to Fresno, California. What a day, got away at 8.30am, temperature was 77F, first climb was back over the Sierra Mountains, height of 7500 feet, not bad from 6300, but then we went down on Carson City side, a drop of 2500 ft and steep, a few back roads and we were back on the main highway to Yosemite National Park. Passed many lakes, quite green area and plenty of stock in the paddocks. Through Mono, a small town where fuel is gold, a gallon of 87 was $3.69.9 US, highest we have seen. Then off to [View Full Entry]

Well, this is the second time I've tried to write this entry! I poured my heart into the first one and now we've popped open our second bottle of wine so...ya know. OK. So. We started out waking up at 6 30 READY for the Half Dome climb. We really did try!!!! To our dismay it was pouring down rain and the forecast was not looking good. It was sad, our beloved Half Dome is going to have to wait until our next California adventure. Our feet are swollen and blistered from the night before! Ouuuch! We went back to sleep [View Full Entry]

We ended up bringing Levi to bed with us around 5:45 this morning. We had tried everything to get him to rest and we were exhausted. He slept great as long as he knew we were close. By 7 Todd was up and going so the rest of us followed along shortly after. We ate a hotel breakfast before checking out. We started by getting gas. Of course we decided on the Sinclair station since their "mascot" is a dinosaur. We took Paul's photo by the sign and found that they had blow up dinosaurs for sale inside. It was [View Full Entry]

The imminent rains have actually postponed this trip week by week. The blossoms have been dodging visitors like us for quite sometime now. Though the website informed that the blossoms are in full bloom last week of February, it rained last week. So, Saturday probably was the first 'sunny' day. The part where it became 'really' sunny is a different issue altogether though. We had briefly passed via Fresno on our way to Sequoia National Park some 3+ years ago on our maiden camping trip. So, I had practically forgotten the proximity of Fresno to Th [View Full Entry]
