This Saturday we made a spontaneous plan of going for hike. It was supposed to be cold and windy but sunny weekend. Initially we were thinking of going for a hike in Muir Woods; however, considering the weather conditions we zeroed down to Mission Peak Preserve near Fremont.
Even though this was a spontaneous plan, Pranav, Mohnish, Ruchi, and Saket also joined us. We started around 1 pm. It’s a 5.6 miles roundtrip hike. However, it is quite steep, especially in the beginning and at the end.
Weather channel stated it would be a windy day. When we started the hike, we thought how windy it could be! Oh yeah… it can be really windy! In fact, it was stormy at the peak!
Few of us had hiked in a recent past. Hence, all of us found it quite strenuous in the beginning. This time we had decided to finish the hike even if we get really tired. It took us approximately two hours to reach the base of the final rocky peak.
Gusty winds made us a little slow while climbing the peak. In fact, in one area, we had to stop for five minutes

or so just to let the wind calm down! There was nothing at all to hold on to, and we were hiding behind the rocks most of the time.
We were really glad all of us made it to the top. The view of the valley was just spectacular. We could identify freeways of the bay area, couple of bridges including the Dumbarton Bridge, etc.
It was tougher to descend the peak - especially the rocky part due to winds. The trail along the valley was narrow. And we saw a lady in front of us almost sleeping on the trail! This made us extra cautious!
Going down was quite easy while walking. However, it was brutal to our legs! We took several shortcuts that were quite steep, making our return trip quite shorter.
Great thing about the hike - it prepared us for future hikes - atleast mentally. This hike was over due since a long time. And, I am looking forward to more hikes this summer!
At the end of the hike, we decided to treat ourselves with some Indian snacks and coffee. We headed to Milan Sweets in Milpitas and enjoyed the
food. However, next whole day was spent recovering from the adventure
