Death Valley between Baker and Shoshone California
At 08:30 we left the hotel for a drive through Death Valley National Park. We took the I15 south to Baker California and then headed north along the 127, through Shoshone. We stopped at the Zabriskie Point Lookout near Furnace Creek and then at the Furnace Creek Visitor Centre (where it was 106 degrees Fahrenheit).

We stopped to look at the sand dunes at Mesquite Flat near Stove Pipe Wells Nevada and then Rhyolite, a ghost town, before heading back to Las Vegas on the 95.

After dinner in our room, we drove along Fremont St and stopped and went in to the Gold Nugget Casino to play roulette.

Gambling
Hi Benny, we stuck with the roulette and Debbie played numbers and more than doubled her stake and I just played colours and odds and evens and I got up a fair bit but then lost some playing numbers. In the end I came out about $40 ahead and we got free drinks so it was a good night and a lot of fun.

Death Valley
Often used by car manufacturers for high temperature testing. Did you spot any interesting vehicles, including red Toyota 86s?

Cars
Not as many snazzy cars in Vegas but a lot more colourful ones. LA was surprisingly drab - grey, white or black colours and the very occasional red.
