I have spent 21 years on this planet, and were it a body, I would only be acquainted with one ass hair of it. I've lived a good life by most standards. Hailing from Oakland, I study history and English at UC Davis. But whether it's the methane in the cow pastures or the too many biking accidents, I have an itch that must be scratched. I have to get out. And so I leave the comforts of college life, my loving friends and family, and burritos to go to the opposite side of the world to find myself and why [View Full Entry]

I visited Barbara Risling (my ex-mother-in-law) where the University of California- Davis is located. Spent some time with Lindsay, my daughter, and Ethan and Connor, my grandkids in Woodland. Lindsay, Lori, and I went out to the Cheesecake Factory in Sacramento and indulged in some totally outrageous cheesecake! I've played my favorite X-Box game, Halo, every morning with Ethan and Connor and as usual got my butt whooped! Those two little buggers totally enjoy killing me over and over! Tomorrow I am off to Santa Rosa. [View Full Entry]

So Frizz and I are going on an adventure. We leave this evening at 1:20 am! We will be going to India, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and then will have a few day stop over in Hong Kong. Our adventure will last roughly five weeks and we will return the 4th of July. I will post more as I settle in and have something exciting to actually talk about but I am very excited. I pretty much have been running around like a mad women trying to get everything done before I take Amtrak/Bart to SFO and am finally done I think. [View Full Entry]

Davis is about an hour east of San Fran in the desert. I camped at the airfield along with 200 other skydivers for 5 days and had a lot of fun. I was taking it easy though as I hadn't jumped for 5 months and its bloody expensive. I did 9 jumps and I learnt so much in such a short space of time. Met some fantastic people and my love for the sport has grown more. Its something however I'll have to pick up when I return as skydiving without a job equals an extremely poor and single man. Still [View Full Entry]

I moved away from Mexico. I don't have a job, so I'm kind of hanging out for a few weeks. I decided to take a jaunt to my old ciudad universitaria. (I regularly update this blog.) I got into Davis on Thursday night. (I chose the Carl's Jr. Jalapeno Burger over In N Out. What? I wasn't hungry at the Kettleman City offramp.) When I got to Jason's house there were fraternity pledges preparing an exchange with a moderate sorority. They aren't a politically centrist sorority, they're the fairly attractive sorority, which is a [View Full Entry]

So I leave for Denver, CO in a couple days. I am meeting up with Kevin and then we are driving down to Texas from there. Im excited to be going somewhere new to climb and to be going for so long which should be an amazing experience. I am really tired still from all the New Years hubbub so its hard to piece together sentences and make sense; sorry if its kind of jumbly and haphazard. At the same time, I am extremely aware of what I will be missing while I'm gone; I will be without my closest friends, [View Full Entry]

When we got back from our road trip it was Labor Day, so we followed the the traditions it being a bank holiday - sat around, ate too much, watched old movies on TV. Jess went back to work and said I could have the car, the thought of driving around on my own scared me a bit, so I said I would just walk into Woodland. Jess told me I was mad and it was a long way - but I am English, we walk. I duly walked into Woodland - 2.5 miles each way, in the heat of the [View Full Entry]
