Hello Loved Ones,
Kevin and I are getting ready to fly off towards India on wednesday morning. We're hoping to be able to travel blog a bit on our journeys for the next month, this is trial number one. We'll see how easy it is to maintain when we're not sitting in our comfy living rooms. Especially the photos (thanks to Mitchella and Marty for the blog idea). If you'd like to not get bloggy emails, just let us know and we'll take you off the list.
Kevin and I are both settling up our lives here temporarily, shifting from work and responsibilities to nomads for the next month. I've been hard at work on a paper that I am about to pass off to the hands of my awesome partner in ecology, Sarah. Kevin finished up a fast and exhausting school year with some trials and tribulations, but also received heartwarming love and appreciation from his students and thier parents.
Our first task in transition was to get Kevin a new look. We went to a really snazzy and fun salon in SF, then had a relaxing and yummy Indian dinner with Shannon. Nice and light for
the heat in India, I'm kind of jealous!
So, we're packing; trying to go light on clothes, heavy on medical supplies and hand sanitizer. We're trusting our sweet Missymouse to the loving care of Sheilan, who will be staying at our house while we're gone. We're looking forward to our three days in London this week to ease into travelling. We'll arrive there thursday at noon, then spend some time on the museums and history of the city and just walk around and relax. We're hoping to see Titus Andromicus at the Globe theatre on friday.
Sunday we fly to Delhi, to arrive at nearly midnight. From there we plan to spend a day in Agra at the Taj Mahal, then journey up north to Dharamsala to register for HH the Dalai Lama's teachings on the Bodhisattva's Way of Life, which start on the 23rd. This is particularly exciting, as we have been listening to teachings on this same text at Jewel Heart since 1998. We hope that we can get into the teachings, which are free on a first come basis.
More stories to come from the road!
Much love, Kara and Kevin

good luck. have a wonderful journey. I'll be loving you both wholeheartedly from afar.
Kevin's hair is really cute!
Please keep me informed via this travel blog - I can't wait to hear what you guys are up to. I was drawing some comics last night and I drew one of me and Kevin when we were babies (with me sitting on his back as I was apt to do. Maybe I'll scan it and post it for you guys...
Hey, that's Titus AndroNicus. Knew you'd like something pedagofical from me. The "do" is good, but I was looking for a Marine recruit sorta look. How'd you like some of that big, monumental modern stuff at the Tate Modern. Did you walk the 2000 bridge over to St. Paul's. I loved the underground -- so easy to get anywhere in a jiffy. Your remarks about India so far are very interesting. When I was a boy my father told me that every night in Calcutta a million people simply lay down where they're standing and that's their bedroom. It'll be enlightening to get your perspectives on it all. Mainly, thrive and enjoy the great strangeness. Love, the wizzened pedagogue.
