After two days in Austin, we headed to Arkansas. The big event of the day, before arriving in Arkansas, was stopping at Roy T.'s Bakery. It was located off the highway in a quant little cottage full of many Texans. We met Roy T. himself, and were entertained by the Texans' excitement surrounding the availability of fresh pigs in a blanket. In addition to the Texans' excitement, Krystal was ecstatic that they carried, and emphasized the superiority of Mexican Coke, because she, too, has a strong love and admiration for the taste of Mexican Coke. After customer upon customer came in and ordered unique items, we began feeling slightly lame that we were eating simple, plain sandwiches, but that was all resolved upon further chatting with Roy T. Like a true Texan, he made us feel extremely welcome, and although every other guest was clearly a regular visitor, he treated us just like everyone else, and worked hard to bring us up to date regarding his restaurant. After being showered with fresh baked cookies and rhubarb pie from Roy T., we headed out to the road to a strong farewell and best wishes from Roy T. and his gang.
After
Texas, and passing through Texarkana, we stopped at Tasha and Wes' place in North Little Rock for a visit. The drive had a little bit of traffic, and overall was a little over 8 hours. We arrived at our gracious hosts' house a little before 8 and headed out for dinner in downtown Little Rock. It was absolutely wonderful to see Tasha and Wes, and congratulate them on their new house! We ventured out to one other bar after dinner, and headed back to their place for some great visiting and interaction with their dogs and kitty. We can't believe we didn't take a single photo with them, but we are able to rest assured that we can always watch reruns of Jenny Jones to see Wes' fabulous performance and smiling face--2001 style.
Tomorrow we will be heading to Nashville for some country music enjoyment!
