When confronted with the name Arizona, most people will probably first and foremost think of the Grand Canyon. So when I visited Arizona, I naturally wanted to visit that famous Grand Canyon. But mass-tourism isn't exactly my idea of fun, so my host-family first took me to the Apache Trail. This largely unpaved, 120 kilometers long road runs through the Superstition Mountains, in the upstream-basin of the Salt River, in Arizona.
