This winter we have seen a fair amount of rain. One benefit of the rain is we have enjoyed some beautiful flowers in the desert. Friends that have been coming to the area for years have never seen it so lovely!... read more

So many lovely hikes in the desert. Some hikes were for the purpose of rock/crystal hunting and others for exercise. You could walk any direction from our RV and take a great hike! The views from the top of mountain peaks are stunning. Our hiking poles are a great aid when hiking rough terrain. Always enjoyable to take a stroll with friends! Here is a sampling of the amazing hikes.... read more

We got out on some off-road (OHV) trails in the Jeep and our friends' side-by-sides (ATV/UTV). The Jeep can traverse most trails used by smaller OHV's. We added a whip flag (yellow smiley face) for off-road visibility and amber fog lights that widen our field of view in the dark. Mike likes his hitch-mounted skull brake lights! So fun to get deeper into the desert and around the Kofa mountain range. This is why we have Mazie!... read more

The sunsets here in Quartzsite are breathtaking. We loved sitting by the campfire and watching the evening sky change color as well as the shadows moving across the mountains. The shadow of the saguaro cacti in the foreground added to the magic.... read more

We have enjoyed some spectacular sunrises here in Arizona. Well, Lois has mostly; Mike has enjoyed the photos (and extra sleep). Our RV faced East, so we had a front row view of the sunrises from inside the coach. Lois loves being outside in the cool morning air trying to capture the beauty of the first morning light. These are a few of the sunrises we captured during our time in Quartzsite.... read more

Mike and I have never been rock collectors. However, it did not take long being in the desert to catch the rock hounding bug. We were fortunate to be with friends that are experienced in finding a variety of rock treasures. Now to figure out how to display them?!?!... read more

We enjoyed a potluck and campfire on Christmas Eve with many new friends. There was even an outdoor Christmas tree! Patti & Karl coordinated the group gathering with friends here at La Posa South and some that stay in resorts in town. There was plenty of food and fellowship. Nice to be around so many friendly nomads as we spent a holiday away from family. Lois decorated the RV indoors with festive pine garlands, string lights and ornaments. On Christmas day, Patti, Karl, Stacey, & Walt joined us in Milo for a Christmas dinner of beef tenderloin with trimmings.... read more

Our campsite for the winter was at La Posa South BLM (Bureau of Land Management) just south of Quartzsite. We joined Patti & Karl, Stacey & Walt, Moira & Chuck, and Kimberly & David in a great site that backed up to a wash (a dry creek, most of the time). The site is about a mile and a half from the BLM entrance.BLM land is boondocking; there is no electricity available and water is centrally located. We get electricity from our solar panels (mostly) or our on-board generator feeding our lithium batteries. We fill 5 gallon jugs with water and pump it into our fresh water tank. Mike installed a propane adapter on the RV, so we can hook up a seven gallon portable LP tank. We bought a 36-gallon "honey wagon" to empty our ... read more
