Another Day. More stories to tell.
We got up quite early. I was up for sunrise and went for a swim in the lake which felt great. We managed to pack up very quick and already Priska was realising that she was in the midst of a truly great group.
We payed a visit to the store where we were lectured about the importance of salt (not the last time either) while trekking in the Grand Canyon.
Route 66 was the major port of call on the way to the Canyon and so we stopped at one of the few places still kicking along the old route called Salligman. This place was something else. The place was as quirky as any i've seen but they sure made some great burgers and milkshakes. The burger place was one big novelty and all the practical jokes while being served were topped off with a ride in the Salligman Shaggin Wagon. A really cool place.
We had a hot, long and fun trip to the Canyon arriving quite late in the afternoon. We set up camp and headed down to one of the tracks near the visitors centre heading down
in the canyon. The aim being to turn around and meet up with Priska at a great lookout for sunset. We also had to meet up with Kel and Mareike who had taken the plunge and taken the helicopter ride over the canyon.
After about 45 min of trekking down we decided it was time to head back up. The sun was fading quickly and we had a long way to hike across to the lookout point. Myself and a couple of the girls who made it back quickly decided to make our way to the lookout along the canyons edge. It took a while but with a bit of jogging and some YEE HAWS (our group calling for the week) once on arrival we alerted Kel and Mareike to our presence.
The view was amazing and the weather was great. Half of the group had arrived and we settled in next to a large group of people who had obviously had the same idea. After spotting a beautiful perch below and further out in the canyon we then proceeded to take what was definetley the most public of good morning shots. The crowd went wild and people
were getting once in a lifetime pictures of the sun setting alongside a 'full moon'.
Mareike and Kel were still shaking after their amazing trip over the canyon. Something I know they will never forget.
Mareike and myself ended up waiting for angelica and angela and then caught up with Priska who had found the Swedes and the Japs.
After dinner we sat down to roast smores with some other Suntrek groups and try some of priskas 'SOUP'(sorry I forgot the name. Very alcoholic especially with extra vodka). This encoupled with a game of 'Never have I ever'resulted in the group knowing much more about each other.
And what is a campfire without a bit of nudity. After writing Suntrek on my arse and stripping down I was joined by a topless Sarah and Marina in a run through Trek America's Campsite. The pictures were great(hey Sarah).
