Hola,
Slept well in the tent in San Diego which was a shocker. Left extremely early to try to beat the extreme heat driving from San Diego to Vegas, but got caught in car accident traffic so it didn't exactly work out to our favor. The drive from the campground to Vegas was absolutely brutal. It was so incredibly hot, but you can't crank the A/C because that could possibly lead to the car over heating, especially driving the car uphill through the mountains. Rolling down the windows didn't help either, so we were literally just baking in the car. Made it to Vegas, found Henri's brother Jason and his friends, then walked around the casinos all day. I really thought they were going to be much more strict about IDs, but I was only asked once and just lied and said I was 21 and went on my way. It was just bizarre that they let me walk around like that without even asking. Was convenient though. I got more sunburn yesterday--it had to be 100 degrees in Vegas and was kind of torture at some points. It's a very interesting place, that's for sure. I actually liked it during the day and walking around seeing the different casinos and cheesy pirate show, but as everybody knows, the freaks come out at night. The people that go out at night in Vegas are terrifying. Too many crazy drunk morons without enough clothes on. We saw one girl getting kicked out of the Venetian and she was screaming and cursing, what an embarrassment. There's also a bunch of people standing around that don't speak English that try to sell you things, like bottled water, roses, and prostitutes.
Went to bed entirely too late last night, had to get up super early today. Drove through more of the desert but it wasn't as bad because it was cloudy. Went through Zion National Park in Utah which was beautiful, then went to the Grand Canyon North Rim. The Grand Canyon is absolutely breathtaking, even when it's foggy. I can't wait to go back. We changed time zones four times today by the way, so I am so tired right now because my body is just confused.
We were supposed to camp tonight at the Grand Canyon but the campground was full. Then we were going to camp at the KOA in Flagstaff, Arizona, but it's pouring rain, so that would not work with a tent. Instead, we had to drop $125 on a dumpy room at a Days Inn. Oh well, at least I get a bed, I feel like I haven't slept in a bed in a while.
My legs are in so much pain from walking all over Vegas yesterday and then trying not to fall at the Grand Canyon. It's only 10:45pm here, but I'm going to bed in a little bit. Excited to be heading back East.
