Dear wedding watchers,
Here's the news: We're still not married... yet!
It turns out that Juneau is located in a temperate rainforest, and the funny thing about rainforests is that it rains a lot. Coming from Stornoway and Plymouth, we're not afraid of a little rain, so we started today with champers in the outdoor hot-tub (in the rain) got dressed in our wedding finery, went outside for pictures (in the rain), drove to the heliport (in the rain), and were astonished to find that we couldn't fly because of cloud.
The outlook is similar for tomorrow, but a lot better for Monday, when we're also expecting a Pulitzer-prize winning National Geographic photographer to be on hand to take our wedding pics. So, get some more bubbly ready for Monday evening, hopefully we'll have another update for you then.
In the meantime, here's some pictures showing how we spent our almost-wedding day.
Best wishes,
Mr and Almost-Mrs Read!
Look! There he goes!We read in a 'Bear Facts' leaflet that "You should always fight a black bear no matter what the circumstances". Seems harsh, but Al, never one to slack his duty, set off in hot pursuit of this guy!

Send Private Message Weddings in the islands used to go on for three days or more so you are keeping up a tradition by drawing it out. Gives us a good excuse to crack open another bottle,
Cheers, Love Maw and Paw
We all gathered here for a celebration last night and partied. In spite of you not getting hitched we still had a good party. We will have another tonight and will keep on going until you tie the knot. The 14th sounds better than the 13th....
Dear Ali and Al. Would just like to say Dave will be drunk if this wedding keeps going on, enjoy yourselves. We will have another toast Monday !!
Sorry to hear your plans were spoiled by .....cloud???!!!! Hope things work out for you on Monday!
P.S. Does a bear shit in the woods????????????
Yeah, I offered to show them how to fly in cloud, but they declined. As for the bears, no, they have little portapotties, with rabbits for absorbency.
Good effort Dave, keep it up! Thanks for the good wishes, keep watching this space...
The Hunts never pass up on a good party and a few drinks, so we know you'll be cheering us on for as long as it takes! Thinking of you all back home, looking forward to celebrating with you later in the year xxx
Thanks folks, the 3 day wedding sounds great to us. The other island tradition we're following is partying despite the weather. Today we can't even see the closest hills, but we're off mountain biking regardless. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Hey yous twa! Talk about stalling! Hope the weather clears up for the big day. Get on with it, or we'll have to find a Starbucks in Seattle to hold it at this rate!
All the best and think the website is fab.
