Very low-key day today.
We sailed thru the Inner Passage, basically just going north along B.C.’s coast. Surprisingly little scenery since we were mostly out in the Ocean lol. Got a few nice shots though when we started sailing closer to the islands and such. We took a bunch of photos… well, I did at least lol.
Lunch was good – they had some yummy turkey thing, and I had Mexican rice and chicken curry thing. After lunch we went to see a presentation (ok, pretty much an interactive lecture) about the Wildlife of Alaska with this marine biologist guy, Milos. He was freakin’ amazing haha, such a dork.
Me and Mom have realized we’re nerds when we travel haha. Attending lectures, doing crosswords (they have them daily in the library on the boat), etc. We be cool.
Rest of the afternoon was pretty much spent exploring the boat some more, visiting the shops, and taking lots of photos as we watched for wildlife. Saw a few whale tails – but by the time you see them, the camera can’t get up fast enough. Boo.
Photos from the front of the boat are hard enough to
Canada mitts
These babies have traveled all over - gotta keep it going =) come by… more decks don’t wrap around, and the one that does has a huge glass shield that pretty much block your photos. Going one floor up, you’re much further back on the boat. However, without the shield the windchill is brutal haha. My hair was ALL over the place… forget using my hairspray… Anytime we were in the wind… so damn cold.
Supper was a colossal fail haha. I had a little bit of sushi upstairs at the sushi bar, but then we decided to have our main supper inside and order room service. Now, apparently it’s too difficult to CALL in your order if you’re ordering from the restaurant menu instead of the usual menu… so they came and mom just handed over what we wrote out.
Unfortunately, I had written (1) beside what mom wanted, and (2) beside what I wanted.
Any guesses what happened?
Two hours later we received 3 appetizers, 3 salads, 3 entrees, and 3 pieces of cake. UGHHHHHH. The poor room attendants come with all these dishes haha – dish, after dish, after dish. I’m standing there like… do I tell them they’re wrong after they’ve carried EVERYTHING from
A tad windy
I have about 20 different photos like this, from only a few days haha. So much wind! two floors and the other end of the ship? Yeah. I said nothing.
And then us being on a cruise, decided what the hell… let’s just try and eat it hahahaha.
(The cruise staff make jokes all over the place that a cruise is basically eat, sleep and eat. We are cattle/sheep. Anyone who's been on a cruise understands this all too well haha) Now, to save some face, at least everything is well portioned in the restaurant on the ship. Eating one and a half entrees is still less than what you get at Swiss Chalet or something - your plate isn't overflowing on the boat... the problem is when you keep going for seconds, thirds, etc. So we figured what the hell, we'll try our one and a half 😉
The soup wasn’t a problem. We got 2 tangerine and apple soups which were the most horrible tasting goop I think I’ve ever tasted haha. Hello toilet – down you go. 3 dishes down (Mom ate her salad)
Entrees and cake were easy to take care of 😉 We had two slices of apple pie and one cheesecake. And then one beef
ragout thing, and two salmon dishes.
The real problem was the appetizers… sigh. I can’t even remember what Mom got, but I had the misfortune of getting the frog legs just to be like ‘hey, I ate frog legs again!’ … woe is me. I now had 4 legs sitting in front of me in the most horrible smelling sauce ever to grace my plate. And yet… I stupidly, stupidly ate them.
I feel I’m going to pay for this lol.
