Busy day today!
We went out to explore downtown Anchorage – it’s a nice little city, you’d never know that 300,000 people live there.
Mom wanted to check out “Trapper Jack’s”, this big souvenir store – we had fun there, seeing all the different Alaskan made products, and of course, laughing at the overly touristic items as well. It was a great store though – a good mix of things. It started raining a little bit, so we went to a few more stores before continuing our adventure.
For lunch we popped by the Farmer’s Market (we’ll actually visit it tomorrow, just dropping in today) where I had a – wait for it – reindeer and salmon quesadilla!! I loved it! Mom thought it was the most disgusting thing ever haha.
After lunch we went to Bear Square Theatre for a few hours – that was a lot of fun! We watched two 30min videos – one about the Iditarod, and the other about brown bears. The bear one was
too cute!!
After the movies we got to play dress-up!! They had Alaskan things (mushing, fishing, a bear, the Deadliest Catch, etc.) for you
to take pictures with which was fun. We even got a pic with a cut-out of Palin haha. There you go, Alaskan voyage is totally complete with that one done =P
For supper we went to Bear Tooth Theatre which was also great. It’s a movie theatre, but they have tvs in the theatre where they come deliver your food so you can eat, drink a beer, and watch your movie at the same time! Seriously, an amazing concept. We watched “African Cats” which was SO cute.
Bus ride back to the hotel was interesting… ahem. This lady was sitting one seat behind/diagonal to me and Mom. After about 5-10min of her looking at me, she finally pipes up:
“Sorry, scuse me but I just want to say that is a beautiful coat” (I was in my green coat). She then went on to “explain” that she loves the colour and went on some sort of ramble about the colour green and how it can make you look like Oscar the Grouch, but not to worry because I don’t look like Oscar the Grouch. Etc. etc. (She sounded… a little off let’s say)
…
Shiskapoops!!
Best name ever. Uh-huh. Thanks…?
After a few awkwardly silent minutes, she adds –
“you also have really nice eyes” The guy she was with then jabs her with her elbow.
“you can’t say stuff like that” Girl:
“why not?!” Guy:
“because you sound creepy” Girl:
“well, I’m not! (she turns back to me)
You have beautiful eyes.” Guy:
“uh…you do have beautiful eyes *covers his face behind his hands*
Me and Mom just looked at each other like… uh-huh… great.
Needless to say the rest of the bus ride was a little quiet ahaha.
