Just kidding. But I do love the colors and the styling.
Looking for a second home can be daunting, but the new digital tools are superb — especially google street view, which allows us to visit a neighborhood almost as though we are driving slowly through it. And, of course, google maps enables us to see the big picture from satellite, looking into the backyard which may not be visible from the street.

We came to Merida again with a tall assignment: find a winter residence. The selections are dazzling, if not utterly overwhelming. Everywhere we look we notice SE VENDE (For Sale) signs. So many choices, so little time. But the process has been fascinating, and we're not going to rush, even though we only have a week left. If we're not satisfied, we will come back in the fall, or even rent for the fall until we find what is truly suitable.

This was a handsome home in its day. But once the roof is neglected for too long, the structure becomes a ruin.

You can't judge these homes by their faces. This city has been building continuously for over 500 years, joining house to house for most of that timeframe.

The color palette down here is delightful, (but the air conditioner might work overtime at this address).

Weary from house hunting, we went to the Mega (a local super market). Shopping. It's what gringos do.

Those are cactus leaves in the foreground. I tasted them in a taco in Sta Lucia parque, and found them very appealing.
