Hullo Ladies and Gentlemen!
Another update is long overdue so here goes!
As I´m sure you know our reinforcements from the U.K have arrived in the form of Joeseph Taylor-Eves (or in the words of slattery "El gordo diablo blanco"). And since his arrival we have been travelling in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.
Before Barry´s (for the benefit of Sally and Adrian that is your scummy son!) arrival me and Brad briefly visited an Island of the coast of Mexico called Isla Mujeres. We just spent one night there but it was incredible, a small town full of mad Mexican architecture, a proper party hostel and incredible beaches.
We then headed back to cancun to meet Joe and spent the next four nights there. It was spring break and was therefore crammed with Yanks and ridiculous parties. Although the night life was incredible it was horribly pricey and apart fom clubs and beaches there was nothing of interest to report. We left earlier than planned and moved on poorer, hung-over and minus one camera! I can´t see myself ever going back! From Cancun we got the bus to Playa del Carmen, another beach town. It was
still quite touristy but much more chilled, we spent an enjoyable three days there and met up with Florrie and Ed (Pedro "The Greatest" Collas - Professional Tan Instructor - No pain no gain) which was cushty.
Now we are in Tulum which is without a doubt the primest cotch in all of the Yucatan. A small town (where Mexican people actually live!) with a fat hostel (pancake breakfast, barbecue every night and 3 squids for a six pack of beer - enough said!) and awesome people. It is famous for the cliff-top Mayan ruins overlooking the nicest beach I have ever seen. We visited the ruins which, although aren´t that big or impressive in their own right, are amazing because of their surroundings. We also spent a day snorkelling in the Cenotes (which are underwater caves full of incredible Stalactite and stalagmite formations, you might have seen them on planet earth). We have had such a good time here, seeing a bit more of what Mexio is really about. Tomorrow we are planning to get the bus south into Belize. We are leaving Mexico with mixed feelings, and a highly improved resistance to Tequila. Photos will follow shortly.
