So i woke up at around 8.30 am a bit of a lie in....lol, i planned to hang out with my dorm mates and had suggested we got to a Cenote which is an underground gave system with rivers. The Yuctan basically has no rivers or lakes and the Mayans got all there water from the underground rivers via Cenotes.
Id suggested we all chip in for a cab and avoid the tour costs, we all got up and grabbed berkkie apart from the english guy Elliot who slept through breakfast......lol. The others took there washing to a local place and i did mine in the sink with travel wash.
A few hours later after chilling out and everyone doing there own thing they decided to do a tour and with six of us no discount and it was 40 dollars which is out of my budget as i still have to get to and stay in Mexico city. So i said id have to pull out, Abraham this cool ethopian guy who is the agent for all the tours booked through the hostel said he would try to sort something out for me and the next thing i
know he has told them he has a guy he will have working with him and this guy need to see the tour. Abraham did not know my name and so said to the tour company this guy is called Andi.
So he told me about this and that he had gotten me a free trip and i had to play along and say i was Andi, so now Andi is my monday name....lol, so the rest of the guys played along and called me Andi. So we chatted and chilled out in Hamocks till the bus came to shuttle us to the Cenote park.
The were two american girls with us and they are from Buffalo in New york State and were cool girls and so we got to the park and we gave our names....lol and then got wetsuited uo and got a life vest and snorkel gear, i have only been snorkling once before and it was about ten mins in thailand so it was failry new to me.
We had a cool guide called Alvra and he got us on to the back of this jeep7buggy thing and we headd to the first
Cenote it was Tak be i think he said, the aussie guy from our group Kane he has a waterproof camera and so said he would copy us some pics later. We got into the cenote and it was awesome with tree roots hanging down and blue water and stalagtites and stalagmites. so we then snorkeld through and it was amazing and i deffintely want to scuba. By the way i offered Abraham a beer or something and he said it was cool and not to bother but i will try and get him one.
Alvra gave us some history of the cenotes and we could see about 300ft it was that clear which is cool, then we headed back topsid and we drove to the next Cenote which is the second largest in the world. It was shallow in parts and you had to watch the bottom and the ceiling and the were many caverns off and so we stuck together close and w went to a certain spot and saw bats nests and the were little fishes in there and we got to this one spot and turned out torchs off for a few mintutes which was
erie and we then headed back to the top and we got back to the main centre and we got to keep our snorkels so i now just need a mask to go snorkelling else where on my trip. They have a skycycle there as well and we had a go on a short demo one.
The were some monkeys in a cage there, so being caged not so great but they looked well treated and they were spider monkeys and i took a vidoe and some pics as the one was swinging by his tail which was cool.
We headed back and me and the Danish guy Ulrich headed back into the hostel to chill out and the others went for tacos.
I then grabbed some pasta for lunch and im having some veggies for dinner later, i came over the internet cafe as the hostel internet is broken and i caught my girlfriend Randi on MSN before she went out to look for work and she seemed in ok spirits and fingers crossed and lucky smile on her and she gets a job in Oz, i think tomorrow will be a beach day as it
is free...hehe.
ps if you get the chance then snorkel a Cenote as its really cool😊
Later i had dinner and i grabbed some beers for the guys from my dorm and then they returned the gesture and we then went to a local bar called arbaca and they had a live mexican band and it was cool and im not sure what time we headed back, but the was the usual achol waffle we had on the way back and then all headed to bed.
