Some vodka, fruit juice combination is thrust into your hand by a smiling Mexican when stepping into the Coco Bong queue. Following the path route round and up two flights of escalators sipping on this sweet beverage I had no idea what to expect from here.
When you reach the club entrance, it's a boutique/bar (although you may aswell skip this part - they make you pay at this bar, but the one just through the door is part of your all inc - reasons for which I do not know)
From here we stepped through to the main dance hall.
My God
We had just stepped into the biggest club venue I have ever been in, right from the back entrance.I was greeted by thousands of balloons being pumped into the air by party revellers, confetti falling from the ceiling, servers holding large trays filled with tequila shots - handing them to whoever was up for the challenge. From the back I could see all the way down to the front, despite the thousands of people on the floor, the sides and the next two floors up. Everyone was facing the same way - awaiting for
the show to start.
We grabbed some drinks and the show had soon started, a Brazilian themed kick off! Dancers, Latin music and a lot of bum shaking. I couldn't stop staring - first at the stage - then at the people around me, everyone was captivated. I decided I wanted to get closer, so I grabbed my partners hand and led him down to the front. We were right up close to the acts. Little did we know at the time that the rest of the night we would have performers all around us.
We stuck to the bar in the middle of the floor; every other act it was closed and covered so it could be used as a stage for the performers - when the act was finished, young women were encouraged to dance on the bar. The whole place was alive (and we didn't even attend on the weekend)
The show starts at 23:30 - Finishes around 03:00 (to my recollection!) with numerous of varied acts broken up by comical Bettlejuice Host and a handful of The Masks walking around pouring alcohol down girls throats, whilst some of the biggest hits in North America and Latin America blast through the room.
This place really ticks all of the boxes for nightlife - whatever you're into and whatever your age. It will blow you away.
Planing on attending? Tips:
1) Tip a server, you will be treated like VIP's the whole night. He will remember your order and as soon as you take a sip out of your recently delivered drink - he will already be en route to the bar to get you a new one - you won't go thirsty & nor will you have to do any queuing - parfait!
2) CoCo Bongo is all inclusive alcohol, so try and avoid the attractive shot girls trying to sell you one shot for 5 bucks!
3) If you don't like hustle and bustle of clubs, this is a Vegas styled show. Pay a little extra - you will be on the top floor equipped with your own booth, waiter and premium drinks - lush!
4)The show is practically the same throughout (yeah, yeah... I went twice) and it cheaper if you go Sunday - Wednesday (every penny counts!)
5) Realize that as much as I tried to take some epic photos - it's just one of those places that cannot be captured through a lens
Finally - Go and enjoy it! You won't regret it.
