Now if you asked me how to roll all the rrr's in that title, I would NOT be able to do it. That is the theme of the day....
I've felt pretty frustrated all day. As I've always joked before, my Spanish accent is horrible. However, it's really been brought to my attention today. Seems I missed out on a few pieces of advice that really would've helped me years ago... For instance, if I want to make the "r" sound, I actually need to make a "d" sound. Hmph....didn't know that. I suppose I should've, but I was never told it and also never really took to fully being able to impersonate those that CAN speak well. But, on the upside, I'm not only living with a MEXICAN family, but also two girls who speak pretty well and are super dooper willing to help me not sound so, uh, gringo. So when I get home this afternoon, I will be allowing my host dad to stick a pencil in my mouth to help with the rolling of the rr's....
But despite my frustrations with my tongue, I'm still SO incredibly happy here. And so I've decided to make a list of things here in Cuernavaca that make me smile.....
1) The cute old man who blows his whistle (loudly!) and waves his flag in the busy street to help us cross the road to and from school
2) The weather!
3) Eating cheesy quesadillas for breakfast...or comida...or dinner!
4) All the interesting people I've met
5) The trees that are trimmed in interesting ways...such as people's faces, birds, etc.
6) Warm showers in the morning
7) Internet cafes that are cheap
8) Beautiful jewelry sold in the streets
9) Good, sturdy band-aids for future excursions
and finally.....
19) The fact that I've only dropped my toliet paper in the toliet once!!!!
