oceanfront shoppingan array of fruit on a stick, jewelry, and the girl in the black cover-up is arranging a parasailing ride. what more could a beach bum need?
Thats right, the plans to Acapulco pulled through and I got to have a mini vacation at the beach within my stay here! I donīt have many interesting historical or cultural facts about this spot, but I do have some good stories!
We left for Acapulco at midnight on Thursday. It was kind of like the night before Christmas, we had to go to sleep and when we woke up we were there! Our hotel was amazing! The package that the group had was all inclusive: including food and drinks. We were right on the beach, literally stepped out the back side of the hotel and bam: beach.
So first thing we did was jump into our suits, lather on the sunscreen, and hit the beach. I had heard that the beach wasnīt too great in Acapulco, but I was pleasantly impressed. It was very clean and the sand was little pebbly but nothing you couldnīt lay out on or walk barefoot in. In all honesty, we spent most of the weekend doing just that. I even shopped for souveniers from the comfort of my beach towel!
Just as in many parts of Mexico, there were people walking
the beach selling things. This time the hot items on the market were necklaces made from shells or coconuts, sunglasses, swimsuit coverups, rides on a jet ski or parasailing. There were also ladies who would braid hair or give massages. I got very accostumed to saying Ļno, graciasĻwithout flinching a muscle. Waitors from the hotel made sure were were hydrated and came out to put up umbrellas for shade.
The ocean felt amazing! A perfect temperature of not to hot or too cold! I spent a lot of time out bobbing along with whoever was up for braving the waves to the calmer water.
For the evenings most of the group went out to clubs. It was very expensive to go: about $30-$40 a night. The little group of buds Iīve been running with is pretty economical and we opted to hang out at the hotel in the evenings. The first night we were pleasantly entertained by some dancers representing the native americans as well as traditional Spanish dancing. We hung out on the deck of the hotel and chatted away.
The second night a group of us walked to a spot on the edge of the
crabsa little profile of a crab looking out at the deep blue ocean
beach with big rocks. We were scrambling up them for a better view and were surprised by some crabs scampering around!! There hadnīt been any sign of sea life on the beach, so I definately wasnīt prepared for these little guys to be romping sideways and frontways and backways along the rocks. Later that night, one of our little friends who sold jet ski rides built a bonfire on the beach and had us come down to hang out in the sand. There were a few fireworks far off and some guitar music.
I did take part in my share of tourist activities including having my hair put in braids, which was awesome for swimming!, bartering on the beach and picking up seashells. On the ride home, I was surprised to realize that I hadnīt left the hotel for the entire weekend! I guess I did enough romping on the beach that I felt I had really gone and done something. I am very glad that I parted with the cash to take the trip!!

Sheridan,
I am glad you were able to get onboard and make the trip to Acapulco.
Sounded like a funfilled, enjoyable, exciting place to be. I am a bit dissapointed you didn't try any of the Cliff Diving !?!?!?!? I bet you would have been good at that, oh well, braids, fruit on a stick, crabs crawling on rocks, coming out of your hotel, and BAM your on the beach, what more could you want.
NOW, BACK TO SCHOOL, REMEMBER YOUR PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE FOR THE TRIP !!!!!!
luv ya,
dad
We're jealous!! The sea and sand sound great!
Did you ever get our thought on what your mountains might be?
Are the elections pretty exciting? We too are anticipating a gourmet Mexican dinner when you are here! (That's your UT's comment, I'll be happy with a nice little taco!)
Love the braids. Sounds like a fantastic couple of days. Enjoy!
