Gaunajuato is the capital of Guanajuato state. An old and important city in Mexico's history. Diego Rivera was born here; his house is now a small museum.
A battle here against the Spanish in 1810 was the first major victory for Hidalgo and the independence movement. When he was captured the following year his head was put on a spit to illustrate the consequences for rebellion.
I completely fell in love with this town. Walking throught the streets I had the feeling that this was home, that this is where I am supposed to be. We shall see...
