On our way to Slim's Museum
the Jacaranda trees are beautiful this time of year After returning from Switzerland, we managed to keep busy here in DF, there is always something going on between school and friends. On Sunday, April 3rd, we took in the Shakira concert held at the Foro Sol, a 50,000 seat outdoor venue, we wanted to go Saturday night, but tickets were sold out. Warm up bands started playing at 4 pm and Shakira came on at 10, and we left at 11 because Linda had to teach next day, we walked 30 minutes out of ther stadium, caught a cab and were home by midnight. Shakira played till midnight and ended with "Hips Don't Lie", rats! missed my favorite Shakira song. Then, on Saturday, April 9th, we visited Carlos Slim's new museum, which just opened a month before. He has so many collectibles that he built a new building costing 30 million USD to house his artifacts. It is open to the public free of charge. We got to see Rembrandts, Picassos, Monets, Rodin and and other art treasures as well as sculptures, stamp, coin, musical quipment, dresses, european furniture collections just to name a few. It was a very impressive collection housed in a very unique building. We met up
Jacaranda trees in Polanco
Polanca is another colonial just on the other side of Chapultepic Pack, and quite a ritzy business part of DF with Alex, Steph, Fran and Jo Anne to make it a fun afternoon out.... then over to Costco, yep, they have them here as well and our cards work.
On Monday, April 11th, Maurice headed back to Saskatoon early to open the house up, get the truck running, solve our cell phone dilemna, get the papers prepared for the accountants and spend a few days on the farm with Kim and Tyler getting to know the routines involved in looking after 300 cows in the midst of calving. Kim and Tyler were expecting their first born, due date was April 15th. Linda arrived in Saskatoon Saturday evening and managed to get a good nights rest. Then, Sunday morning at 7 am, Tyler called to announce that he and Kim were the proud new parents of a bouncing baby boy, Bennett Maurice, born at 6ish in the morning. They only left the farm at 5AM and barely made it to the hospital in time. Both Kim and Bennett were just fine. Linda and I headed out to North Battleford to greet, cuddle and oo! and aw! over our newest grandson. We got to hold Bennett when he was less than
Street Entertainment
We see this all the time. While traffic is stopped, people like this unicyclist entertain, then ask for coins before the light changes 6 hours old. Linda had only been in Saskatoon for 7 hours when he was born. We met my Mom (87) and Dad (93) at the Co-op where they were having lunch, and took them and my sister Rose Marie up to the hospital to introduce them to Bennett as well. How lucky we are to have been able to take 4 generation pictures! Linda and I then continued on to the farm where we looked after calving and enjoyed the spring weather until Tyler and Kim got back to the farm on Tuesday. Back to S'toon to catch up with Linda's family, friends and the much dreaded tax appointments. Later in the week we went on to visit Leslie, Brian and the 3 grandchildren, and then to Livelong to visit Marc, Holly and Saydi. We attended that family Easter celebration on Friday night. Then, back to Saskatoon, more visiting with friends and relatives. We spent our first anniversary, also Easter Sunday, with Luc and Colette, whose anniversary was just 3 days later. We finally caught a plane back to DF Monday morning at 6:30 and were home in DF by 3 in the afternoon, safe and sound. Linda was
