Hola Todas, So we have finally made it to Mexico. On the contrary to what people say about this place, in regards to its 'dangerousness', we actually found it to be a beautiful city rich with culture and history.

There was definetly nothing boring about this place by any means with alot of music and dancing in the streets. The city is always alive with some crazy adventure 😊 We were lucky enough to meet up with a mate here, Bobbit. It was great to travel around the city and surrounds with a familiar face. He has already been in Mexico for 4 weeks so when it came down to speaking their language, Spanish, he was definetly our saviour.... I also think it paid off to pay attenton in school as I found my Italian came in handy too, very similar languages. You would be surprised to see how little english is spoken here by the locals considering it is so close to the US. Definetly made for some humerous yet interesting times 😊

So the first few days were spent exploring the city areas including Zona Rosa, Zocalo, Le Condesa and Centro Historico.... Everywhere you turn there is something truely beautiful to see, from the Palizio De Bella Artes, Nationale Cathedral, Presential Palace, Revolution and Indepencia Monuments, San Angel, and The 'Blue House' formally occupied by Frida- Latin Americas most famous Artist. All these places are very beautiful in architecture and design. Alot of them colonial type buildings.

We have visited the pyramids of Teotihuacan, around 45kms north east of the city.... This city has been dated back to 100 BC, pre colombian times. The archeological site has two main pyramids up to 233 ft high. We climbed them (with great difficulty) and the views from the top were AMAZING! We visited ancient ruins and the beautiful canals of Xochimilco, travelling in a trajinera (a brightly coloured, customised named boat, called Rosamaria) The canals even though named as one of the UNESCO natural world heritage sites has since been commercialised equipped with floating handicraft and food boats. Nevertheless, it still has a great atmosphere with beautiful latin music from floating musicians and gorgeous river views.

Then of course there was the Lucha Libre, Freestyle Mexican wrestling... Move over WWE & WWF, this is where the wrestling originated... An what a show it is!!! The tour started off by our 'city friend' (local guide) coming to the hostel and setting up a slideshow explaining the history of mexican wrestling. Followed by some traditional shots of Tequila (of course) and the gift of our own wrestling masks, Oh boy did we look a sight!! We had 'Blue Diamonte' (aka Peter) who ealy didnt want to get out of character so ended up wearing it to the Arena... I have never laughed so hard in my life!! Wasn't really sure if I would enjoy it that much but I sure did! Our city friend gave us some very handy phrases to yell out from the crowd, uh like Puto (Faggot) Matalo (Kill Him!!) lol.... We actually got right into it, where else can you yell obscenities at someone without being arrested... 😊

The food here has been great. Favourites would have to be the Tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, and ambressos... Funny that I couldn't wait to have Nachos when I arrived and I still have not eaten them 😊 Mainly because Nachos are actually American... Our receptionist got in to a bit of a puff when I asked where I could find them, I dont think they like the Americanos very much.. lol Oh and how can I forget the plentiful Tequila and 80 cent Coronas?!! So so cheap.....

Unfortunetly Peter was a little sick the last couple of days, I would diagnose it as a mild case of food poisoning.... Was bound to happen to one of us, but all good. I know if he had the chance he would probably eat the same things again 😊

So for now it is Adios Amigos, off the the sunshine state of California...

Much Love

xx
