Typical DogDogs do not move EVER! Sue, this is for REAL!!!
Well, it is just now a matter of days until we hit the road again and head home although each of us is dreading the trip! At least it will be less crowded in the truck on the way back.
The last couple days I have spent doing a little painting, a lot of kayaking and walking on the beach and slowly packing up some things before we leave. Although we hope NOT to have a hurricane this summer, we are going to make plans for the worse case scenario! Rather than leave bed linens and towels in the closet, we are taking them out and storing them in the plastic bins. If there IS a hurricane and all floats away, then someone will get some good dry stuff!
As to another Baja moment............our electrician was to come over and put in a ground wire for us as part of the "contracted" work for which we hired him a few weeks back. So we were happy to see him back here to finish his work! As he is leaving, we all notice that the sensor light is ON, and he comments, "Is that light on all the time?" DUH!!!
And WHO is the electrician? So we tell him ,NO, it is, after all a SENSOR light, and only goes on at dusk when there is motion. He responds, "Really? Weird. I didn't do anything to change that".
RULE # 1 IN BAJA: IT IS NEVER YOUR FAULT IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG! ALWAYS BLAME SOMEONE ELSE!" Then he said that he had to go! I jokingly said, "Well, when will you be back??? 2 wks or so???" I do have a good rapport with him and he responded, "NO, probably about 4 wks!". So, maybe I will see him next year???
Last night we went to El Japones for dinner. It is better known as the "hotdog" place . Japones, for those who may not know, is the Spanish word for Japanese. Not sure why it is called that but we had heard that it was excellent and very cheap. So what the heck? I had a very savory quesadilla with veggies, Mike had a hotdog and we each had a beer. Total:$6.00 ( actually a little less). I was shocked! I also thought that there may have been a mistake, but no. Wow.............. But, before we were
went there, I had paddled down to the Agave Hotel and Cantina and noticed that there were people there so I figured it must be open. So we went there first, walked in the front door thinking that this was the restaurant. Instead we found ourselves smack dab in the middle of someone's living room!!! Well, the owner was most gracious and apologized for the failure to take down the sign! Again
only in Baja! Rogelio, our painter, was back yesterday in hopes of finding some work in the park. But there was none although he "hinted" about washing our truck, trailer and waxing. Instead he stayed from about 8 am until noon............ He and Mike shared "humming" tunes while I went back and forth doing laundry and staying out of sight! When I returned one time, he and Mike were having lunch together...or breakfast. Rogelio shared his Marlin cakes with us--not bad at all. Today he returned again in hopes of doing some more painting at the neighbor's place but they won't be ready until tomorrow.
