This is kind of funny but then again, NOT. Yesterday I was just admiring my beautiful yellow hibiscus plant. It had grown so much and was ready to show some more of its splendor with several new buds ready to open. I was feeling pretty proud that it had not yet died. I got up this morning and went for a little stroll around the park and got talking to one of the residents who had just arrived a couple of days ago. I was showing her where we lived here and some of the "improvements" that we had made. As we approached our gate, I wanted to point out my wonderful gardening skills when I was affronted with a BARE hibiscus! My first thought was deer but then I remembered where I was. What was going on? I was dumbfounded when Karen informed me that some steer had gotten and must have made a meal of my hibiscus and all the rest of them in the park! I could NOT believe it! Sure enough, not one hibiscus in the park was left with a single blossom!
Today, Sunday, was the annual Art Fair down at Rancho Buena Vista which
is an old hotel here that is being redeveloped into a new condo place, they say, although no building or remodeling has taken place. But there were a lot of paintings by gringo artists and a few "objets d'art" by Mexican artisans. I did buy a very colorful blanket/ throw to put over our ugly Lazy Boy! I also bought the Art Fair t-shirt which was very cute. Our friend, Betty, had a booth where she sold her gourds and did quite well. We got there early and left early. The rest of the day I prepared dinner for Gaye and Bob who are leaving on Tuesday. They had us in the first week we were here for those wonderful stuffed potatoes! They are from California. We also had in 2 other couples and we had a great visit and great laughs about Baja experiences. We all still agree that the Baja is NOT for everyone but for those of us here, we also agree that we love it here.
We still have not set a departure date but it will be forthcoming......Now we have to wait for MIke's back to calm down again after he "fell" into the
kayak last week! It is always something. The weather has been just wonderful---little breeze, blue skies, sunshine, 85+ degrees.
See you all soon!
My IguanaThis little guy makes an appearance now everyday. I thought it was to just visit me but I realize that it is eating the bird seed in my little bird feeder!
Chairs at the Art FairThese chairs are made out of Palo de Arco which is the same material that was used to make our sombra. Do you think Mike could make one of these?
