Well, we accomplished what we wanted to do here and it has been an interesting venture! We also had some company during the painting stage and survived it...... I dread thinking about the drive home but it may be getting to be that time although I will so miss it and look forward to coming back already!
Today we took the Lewis' to the airport and then went to the ING office w/ a park resident from here to pay his insurance. I acted as interpreter although it really was not needed. We later went to the Mega store to get some supplies---but they did NOT have my beer! Couldn't believe it!
Our painter, Rogelio, was able to get another painting job just 2 places down from here thanks to me. He has quickly become my new "best" friend and has shown up for coffee each day, stops in for his lunch break and then again when he is done with work......Wow. What can I say? Today he asked me to loan him $5 to buy a card for his wife who has been recuperating from an operation. He had to buy a "used" support-like thing (I think a
girdle) for her and new it would have cost him like $300 but he got a used one for $150. She will get some disability money too and I wonder if he was trying to guilt me b/c he only got $35 a day which is more than he would make if he was busy w/ the fishing industry.....Too many gringos are getting gouged............
Weatherwise, it was a GREAT week--very little wind, hot and sunny everyday! The fishermen have been happy b/c a lot of fish are being caught. Lots of yellow tail, bait fish and marlin. The manta rays continue their flying dance each day and continue into the night. The one thing that we have not seen yet is the turtle hatching. I have really looked forward to it but maybe I missed it? Will have to inquire a bit more.
Not much else to report on here. Hope you like the photos!
Here Sharky!!!This little guy was caught somewhere nearby! The fisherman had a LOT of different fish he brought in here on the beach.
Kissing the MarlinLots of fishermen have been lucky to catch marlin. This one was about 135 pounds!
Enjoying a coldie.....After watching the fisherman haul in his "goods" we decided to take a break and enjoy a beer.....Can you imagine that?
