From the photo I now have a new nick name.....Leonardo (one of the ninya turtles). For the seven weeks I have all my worldly belongings straped to my back. One good thing about this is it feels soooo good when you take the pack of your back. An instant weight loss of 10-15kgs. One of the things on this trip that has amazed me is the little things you start to appreciate ........the day you get your washing done and for a day you have a pack that is completely clean(so happy with that). Who needs a step class at the gym when you can strap on your backpack and walk the streets and did I mention those hills and the steps. Oh my God!!! Feel the burn. Now the the important stuff, we went kyaking yesterday at a bay near La Paz. Wonderful, beautiful weather and the water was so clear. The guy dropped us and 6 hours later came and picked us up. Great day. The food is different but has so many flavours you can taste.
Ahora mi toca , ok thatīs enough spanish, i donīt want to strain the brain anymore than absolutely necessary. Last night
I enjoyed a great dish of chillis rellanos washed down with pineapple juice, Carol enjoyed enchilados (tofu, cheese ) with refried beans (frijoles) and salad and papaya juice and our new best friends from Toronto ( Carol loves them cause she can give them spanish language tips!)
We are using local remedies to fix our ailments, an aloe vera leaf from the court yard in our pensione for that one bit of skin missed in the body slathering of sunblock. The juice of that stuff is foul!
The search for ginger ( Carol'travel sickness ) led us to the amazing ?discovery that vitamins are not a necessary part of a chemist , a supermarket or indeed a locals diet, tis just a western thing. Nevertheless we tracked some down at a hip vegetarian new age shop!
