Local travel knowledge sure played a role in finding this beach. There have been people coming back to this particular boondockiong site for dozens of years-but looks like it will be short lived-you can see signs of development and if the price of the restaurant means anything-the end of cheap tacos..We went for lunch at La Seritas beach club and paid 2.50 0 american for a coke, and 11 bucks for a burger-turned out that we ordered 4 cokes because the wasps kept swimming in the cans, and 10 bucks for tacos-but the peanuts were free. We also learned that if you burn peanut shells and paper in a basket it will keep the bugs away-expensive knowledge.
Our site was fabulous and people friendly-all well equipped with all kinds of stuff: satellites, potted plants and all kinds of tent concocotions. We're learning all kinds of things, like why we actually brought a shovel and rake, lots of batteries, extra water, and a taste for sand.
We had a pure Mexico day here. It was hot, the water was warm and swimmable. We walked about a km down the beach to the main beach club and checked out the surf and boogie board situation-Sam slobbering to be a surfing machine-but that would have to wait until tomorrow-today we just hung out in the water, and I went for a beach run-I really needed that after a week of motorhome fitness.
Next day(because I have no idea what day it is..)
What is unique about this area is that there is a golf course where we're camped-hard to decipher until someone explains it to you, because it is pretty much cactus and dirt..but a golf course nonetheless-with actual flags! I saw a ragtag of men heading off in the morning with a couple of clubs each heading to the links, even a guy in a wheelchair and snowboots in a motorized ATV-maybe I'll join the expedition tomorrow.
Sam was determined to surf today and if ever there there was a day to surf it was today. I told the kids that if they did one hour of schoolwork in the morning and one at night that would work, so after some heavy labour we walked down to the beach in search of a couple of boards. I lasted about 20 minutes because the waves freaked me out and i traded it in for a boogie board. I guess I acted like a girl..(you'll appreciate that Lisa) Sam however figured it out progressively and impressed me as usual, and I was a boogie boarding machine-both of us not getting out of the water all day.
This motorhome life is an eye opener. We're in the middle of nowhere and we watched this woman sit in her truck with the motor running not understanding why-actually were quite irritated. It turns out that a guy bought a modem and at certain times of the day you can get internet-everyone is waiting around until that happens and she was one of them..I find it facinating that we could be boondocking on the top of the hill in the middle of nowhere by a dirt golf course and could hook into internet!
to be continued..
