Servus! Heute melde ich mich aus der kanadischen Hauptstadt Ottawa. Bis ich meine Sachen ins Hotel bringen darf, muss ich noch eine Stunde ausharren und daher habe ich meinen Bericht auf jetzt verschoben... Ich bin heute gegen 9 Uhr aufgebrochen und problemlos - sogar ohne Karte - durch das Strassengewirr auf den richtigen Highway nach Ottawa gelangt. Die Fahrt verlief relativ ereignislos, was ja eigentlich nur positiv ist. Habe unterwegs einen Zwischenstop bei Dunkin Donuts gemacht und bin dann direkt weitergefahren. Gesaettigt und bereit zur Weiterfahrt!

Mes chers amis, endlich habe ich ein Internetcafe gefunden. Es liegt mitten im chinesischen Viertel und ist ziemlich heruntergekommen... Die Chinesen sprechen aber franzoesich - witzig... Eine anstrengende, 8 Stuendige Fahrt liegt nun hinter mir. Ich habe Toronto heute morgen nach einem ausgedehnten Fruehstueck in Richtung Montreal verlassen und bin direkt am direkt am Ontario River und anschliessend am beruehmten St. Lorenz Strom entlang gefahren. I finally made it!

I arrived in Vancouver two hours late, so I was very glad that I arranged to spend a night there before heading out to Vancouver Island. The bus I needed to catch leaves at 9am, well after my plane arrived. I am very grateful to Luke and Abi, friends of my brother Sean, for their hospitality at such short notice. I spent the day sleeping until Abi arrived home at 4pm. I then spent the evening with Luke and Abi, which I enjoyed immensely. Ich cruise mit meinem Cruiser...

So, da bin ich wieder! Den gestrigen Abend habe ich in einem echten, amerikanischen "Old-fashioned" Kino verbracht! So richtig, wie man das immer in den alten Filmen sieht. Es liefen Low-Budget-Filme und die B-Movies, die es nicht in die grossen Kinos schaffen. Das wusste ich aber vorher nicht... Wollt eigentlich in Harry Potter... Mein Film hiess uebrigens "Where the truth lies" (Achtung Wortspiel! AUA!) und war gar nicht so schlecht. Bis kurz vor Beginn war ich ganz allein im Kino. 19 hours of flying doesn't exactly tickle my fancy but I must say that Singapore Airlines impressed me. Glass House Rocks - Narooma

It's hard to believe that our Australian adventure has come to an end. It's sad in a way, but we're also happy not to be living out of a suitcase anymore! Nathan was excellent the whole way home - I think he's gotten so used to our nomadic lifestyle that nothing phases him anymore. The plane rides were uneventful (which is always good) and fortunately we were able to go to Nancy's house in Vancouver for our five hour layover between flights to sleep, eat and freshen up - that was definitely a lifesaver - thanks Nancy! Ich vor dem 550 Meter hohen CN-Tower!

Nach einer langen und erholsamen Nacht war der heutige Tag ganz im Zeichen von Sight-seeing und Shop-til-u-drop! Um mich fuer den langen Tag zu staerken, habe ich mir erstmal das Continental Breakfast, welches mein Hotel kostenlos anbietet, genehmigt. Nach 4 French Toast mit Erdnussbutter und Marmelade war ich dann endlich startklar. Auch das Wetter stand mit der Stadt heute morgen nicht mehr so auf Kriegsfuss und daher habe ich beschlossen, mir erstmal einen generellen Ueberblick ueber Toronto zu verschaffen. 366 Days Down Under - The Planning Stages

Tom and I have started some intense planning for our year in Australia. Family will be happy to know that we're intending to be around for Christmas 2005 and probably 2006 as well. We've finally met with a travel agent and supposedly flights from Toronto to Hong Kong are booked up tight for the end of December, so we do need to book now.
