A land of vast distances and rich natural resources, Canada became a self-governing dominion in 1867 while retaining ties to the British crown. Economically and technologically the nation has developed in parallel with the US, its neighbor to the south across an unfortified border. Canada's paramount political problem is meeting public demands for quality improvements in health care and education services after a decade of budget cuts. The issue of reconciling Quebec's francophone heritage with the majority anglophone Canadian population has moved to the back burner in recent years; support for separatism abated after the Quebec government's referendum on independence failed to pass in October of 1995. Shenanigans
Shenanigans
These are the shenanigans that fill my days until I FINALLY leave for Europe. (ps we're in a cab. drunk. we took like 20 pics like this. In about 10 minutes. We're cool like that)
Mmmmmk. I'm still here. But the good news is that i leave in 98 days! Ok. It's still a relatively long wait. But it's getting closer, so i'm ok with it. Flights are now completely booked. And tours. So really theres nothing left to obsess over. AND IT DRIVES ME NUTS! I'm so excited. I can't wait to leave. And all that I have left to focus on is school. Now how heinously boring is THAT? But good news: I might be taking a French class from the end of April to the end of June. So that will keep me [View Full Entry]

Zoef… zoef… zoef…

I had my interview in Downtown Victoria this morning. Driving me to and from was Ken, who I love talking to. On the way to the beautiful Parliament Buildings, he was ranting to me about the current government now. Was funny. Anyway, the interview went well. I answered all the questions the best I could. And the girls that were after me came all the way from Prince Rupert! So they had to fly in and stay overnight. At least it's all reimbursed. Ahhh. I should've taken more pictures inside!! The place is really beautiful. These pics I have now don't [View Full Entry]

Having returned to Vancouver so many times over the last few years, I was excited to be arriving out of character. I wasn't rolling a suitcase behind me through the gates at the beautiful Vancouver airport, nor was I jumping off of a seaplane from the Island. The train transport was a great ending to my American journey as I had watched an Oscar winning movie and filed my nails to perfection, whilst viewing familiar ground through the window. I was the first off the train from Seattle, wearing my Indiana Jones hat and hoisting my life pack onto my back. [View Full Entry]

At some points you do wonder why you bother, you've paid a fortune, it's freezing cold, snowing, your feet are being bound as tight as a Chinese lady in plastc boots and you are on a holiday where you don't get to lie in. But then again, for some reason it's one of the most enjoyable things in the world. It's hard to explain why. So it's the annual ski trip for your favourite holidaying girl and this year I'm trying something new, left behind are the old slopes of Europe for a winter wonderland in the New World. So it's [View Full Entry]

Well, they did warn us..

The geryhound that we took from lake Louise to Revelstoke was the last one for the time being, the journey itself was pretty special as we travelled through the glacier national park. The road sticks close to the contours around their and every now and then you have to pass through an avalanche shed( a tunnel that covers the road to stop the snow blocking the path). We arrived in Revelstoke quite late in the day and after quite a long walk we arrived at the hostel. I could hardly say that hostel was fully booked when we arrived there, thought [View Full Entry]

Yep, I had already been in Vancouver once… But that doesn’t mean I was fed up with it now, on the contrary. I love Vancouver! So when Freya proposed to go again for a long weekend, to see the concert of the Beautiful Girls, I agreed to come immediately! This time we didn’t need to rush that much, since we’d already seen most of the touristy must-see’s. That was good, cause I’d been ill for a few days and hadn’t completely recovered yet. So we made it an easy-going weekend, but actually still managed to do quite a lot. This time [View Full Entry]
