Hello again:
It's me - your favourite canine blogger, I hope!
Today was actually a little boring, as there wasn't a lot to see.
After breakfast at the motel, we left and headed north-west.
It wasn't long before we ran into prairie-like scenery for miles and miles. Every now and then we would see a "hill" along the way.
My masters had lunch at Denny's and then filled up the car before crossing the border. There happened to be a pet store at this stop, so they bought me some treats - Aussie Wraps - beef-n-cheesy. Mmm, are they good.
A couple of other things of interest along the way were oil wells and long trains. Sharon counted one train with 94 cars plus the engine. (see pic).
Also there were numerous oil wells (pumps) working all along the highway, both in North Dakota and on Saskatchewan.
Then we crossed over the border and into Canada. The customs agent gave my masters a laugh. At one point in her questioning, she asked if they had more than $10,000 which they were bringing back into Canada! My master's comment was, "How I wish!!" <smile>
Once we got to Estevan, guess what we
came to? Right on - a Tim's! So I was treated again to my favourite! This time Tims didn't have any plain old fashioned Tim Bits so I got to eat most of a plain old fashioned doughnut! Cool eh?
Then we arrived in Weyburn, SK. The motel where we are staying is not too crazy about my presence and so shoved my masters into a smelly, smoking room!! We tried to find another place, but they all said they did the same thing - dogs in smoking rooms! I think I will have to speak to the Canine Rights Commission when we get back!! Anyway, in this little town, there is a Wal*Mart down the street, so they went there and got some Febreeze and sprayed the room before we went for supper. It wasn't too bad when we got back. But I really had to check it out for them - I sniffed and sniffed and sniffed. Boy was that tiring!
After suppering at Smitty's, we came back to the room and settled in for the night!
Tomorrow we are off to our Alberta destination - Sharon's Mom and Stepdad's in Wainwright. on the way we are looking
forward to having lunch with a friend in Saskatoon. It will be our longest day of the whole trip - 8 hours of driving! So we are hoping to get a good early start.
BTW, we are not sure about having an internet connection in Wainwright, so there may be a period of silence from us (which you might not mind, after these daily reports from me!). So don't be alarmed if you don't hear from us for a bit.
Bow-wow and woof for now!
Benji.
