Just 16 days to departure. First Germany, then Turkey and Syria.
I have planned all I am going to plan, my fear at this point is to plan this thing to death.
We have a pretty good itinerary set up, with some built in flexibility. Ali, who I "met" online after emailing a Turkish motorcycle club has been just unbelievable. He has set up a few places for us to stay with local police and a dinner with the Chief and Deputy Chief of the Osmaniye Police! He is also making arrangements for us to have a working cell phone while there, not just our Sasktel paperweights.
For some reason, I have only gotten excited about Syria in the last few weeks. I think it's because of the Turkish motorcycle factor. Our Visas arrived a little while ago along with the realisation that we were travelling to a country that very few westerners ever go to.
Our list of hotels include a cave, a hotel called Ishtar, an Australian Guest house near Galipoli and a bunch of people we have never met. We are staying with 5 or 6 people from hospitalityclub.org and couchsurfing.com. This will be a new experience for me, as I am one to generally shy away from the unknown. I am evolving!!!
Will post again shortly before departure.
