Economically and technologically the nation has developed in parallel with the US, its neighbor to the south across an unfortified border. Canada's paramount political problem is meeting public demands for quality improvements in health care and education services after a decade of budget cuts. The issue of reconciling Quebec's francophone heritage with the majority anglophone Canadian population has moved to the back burner in recent years; support for separatism abated after the Quebec government's referendum on independence failed to pass in October of 1995.

View in the Cap-Tourmente Nature Reserve

A short, but pleasent trip that I have done with my friends at Cote-de-Beaupre, just East of Quebec City. We hiked at Cap Tourmente Nature Reserve, visited the Basilique Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre (sorry, no pic), les Chutes Montmorency, the very informative Musee de l'Abeille in the village of Chateau-Richer and finally Ile d'Orleans. Montreal Bord!

Een week geleden kon ik gratis meerijden met de Canadezen naar Montreal, maar afgelopen weekend was ons geplande weekendje naar Montreal met de hele groep. Vandaar dat ik nu weer een blog plaats over Montreal. Deze keer had ik natuurlijk al het sightseeing al gedaan, dus wat is dan de reden om naar Montreal te gaan? FEESTEN!!!!! Well for the weekend we went to Montreal with all the internationals. We hired cars and drove up on the friday, went out for dinner that night at a nice place near our hostel. On saturday we walked around for most of the day checking out the city and then went to a really cool pub kinda like little creatures in freo, by our hostel and had beers, chips and gravy. was really nice. Lucy's crash

So, day one in Quebec City was one of my favourite days yet. We woke at around 7am in time to have breakfast and leave for the slopes. The breakfast was free, included in the hostel so Lucy and I took FULL advantage! We had toast which was made less boring by the fact that to cook it we had to use one of those foreign balance your bread on a rotating toaster things! Most of these pictures are from a gatherin of friends in Montreal last march. I have been to Montreal about 20+ times in the past 3.5 years so there may be some pictures from then. Montreal is a beautiful, lively city with somethign to do at any hour. The clubs are great, shopping is amazing, but the people are bit hard to understand. So, now onto stage 2 of Mission get Amy around the world! I managed to get myself to the airport on time leaving new york at 5:30am to make the train to Newark. Poor Pat had to lug my big pack pack across the city for me as I didn't have the strength with this flu! I got myself checked in and got selected for a random search at customs!
