We’re camping on the Ile-d’Orleans….and this blog today actually begins in the year 1579, in Outlines, Marne, Champagne-Ardenne, France. Jean Roy dit Desjardins (Joigny) (Lauzier) was my 11th great-grandfather, on my mother’s maternal side of the family. All we know about Jean Roy is that he seduced Marie-Marguerite Boucquenier (Brouchu) in January 1604, and did not marry her, although she gave him a son, Olivier Roy, who was born and baptised on October 2 1604 in Saint-Andre's Roman Catholic church in Joigny, France. This was our last day in Quebec city as well as being the day that we would have the drive home to endure (that one is never as much fun!). This meant that we would try to cram in a couple of things before leaving but all the while remaining mindful of the time as we did not want to get home too late. We had resigned ourselves to the fact that we would not be taking a scenic route home because it would just take too much time ... unfortunately. Maandag 6 oktober Mijn voorlaatste dag op het eiland :'(, maar veel te doen. Ik heb met Sébastien van mijn eerste rondrit, afgesproken om nog wat inkopen te doen voor ik de plas terug oversteek. Op zoek naar levi's jeans ... het zou hier zo veel goedkoper zijn. Nergens mijn maat te vinden pffff, tot ergens toch nog eentje gevonden, chance want onderweg hadden mijn oude broeken het begeven, een nieuwe jeans kon er dus wel bij. Na een hele dag rondgeracet te hebben was het alweer laat toen ik terug bij Dario aankwam. Nog vlug even afscheid gaan nemen van Coco en Dodo en hen bedanken voor de fijne momenten.
