DriveThis is a few scenery that we saw on the way to Winnipeg (still in Ontario)
We left Tim’s cottage around 11ish (AM) and left towards Winnipeg thinking it would only be a 13 hour drive. Jeez de Jeez! We were wrong. It took us 24 hours in total. We had to drive slowly during the night because it was very dark and we kept seeing glowing eyes of moose and deer along the side of the road. In total, we saw at least 10 deer, 5 moose, a fox and even black bear. At night, it really scared us, but in the morning, it was nice to see them drinking in the fresh water close to the road. The drive to the North of Lake Superior was really beautiful. We weren't expecting it because some people told us it was a boring drive. We defenitly want to go back to this place and spend more time exploring it and the park around it. It was definitly worth it to stay an extra day at Tim's cottage, but unfornatly we had to sacrafice our stop in Pukaskwa National Park.
Along the way, we stopped at Thunder Bay to see the Terry Fox monument. It really made us think that we drove almost as far as
he ran (because he started at Newfoundland). The dedication and strength that he must have had is inconceivable. We were glad to have made this stop to really appreciate his achievement and his dreams.
We are just finishing this entry as we are entering Winnipeg. We just passed a sign that maked the middle point of Canada which is pretty cool (but it is not the half way point to our journey).
It will be nice to get some rest and celebrate Canada day with Brad, another friend of Nigel’s.
DriveThe sunset...we're still driving in Ontario!
dRiveALong the drive, you could see the great canadian sheild (bouclier canadien). It made the drive more interesting and cool looking. :)
