Published: July 26th 2011North America » Canada » Ontario » WindsorJuly 22, 2011 Brian and I headed off to Windsor Ontario for a weekend getaway. We stayed at the Travelodge on Riverside Drive with a view of Detroit. While the room was a good price there were a lot of noisy teenagers (from across the river, who come to drink legally at age 19). First night we went to Cesars Casino and had a so-so dinner at the sports bar, gambled a bit and headed to bed early as we were planning on being the Thunder Over Michigan airshow by sunrise on Saturday. Crossing the border was easy on the Ambassador Bridge and we had no trouble getting to the airshow which was around Ypisilanti, Willow Run area. It was extremely hot and humid and rained for about ten minutes when we first arrived, but thankfully ... read more
Ok, finally updating :) I'm soooo late in doing this lol sorry. We left Chicago late, after 2 PM. Natalie did very well driving in Chicago, with Lucy's help. I'm amazed I didn't have a hangover lol seeing as I closed the blues club @ 4 AM lol but I drank a big tall glass of water with each drink LOL We decided that we were not going to shop in Chicago. All the traffic moves very fast. lol Nat kept saying that she won't complain about Vancouver traffic again. When we were leaving the city, the car was getting loud. It was not so bad before, noise was tolerable, as we continued our drive from Ill. to Indiana, it got louder. We were going to stop in Michigan so I could meet an online friend ... read more
Oh we traveled all afternoon into the night, we needed to get back into Canada, the car was sounding very rough. It was a wheel bearing. We got to Windsor late, breezed through Detroit. We had no trouble getting back into Canada. lol It was great to be home. The American people are nice for the most part. We didn't get a lot of help in Chicago with the money matter but but everywhere else they were hospitable! Of all the places we've been my favorite part of the state was South Dakota, people wise, they were very nice, scenery wise, the rests stops were awesome!!! lol But Chief Crazy Horse Monument, Little Bighorn Battlefield, Devil's Tower and last but not least The Badlands. I will go back, of that I'm sure. When we got to ... read more

The hour has come. Lacking sleep I sit wondering what is to come in the next few days. It will be two months until my next Canadian meal, and I am sure that I will long more for the company that is included in such festivities. Good advice from all involved and the diligence of a bright few have kept me sane to this point. Thanks to all those who have helped, but most importantly, my lovely girlfriend, my giving brothers, my parents, and all extended family, you know who you are. Especially in this last day of madness where at some points the hours seemed to be too short to accomplish all that was needed. I look forward to the flights, finally some time to review the mandarin that I've accustomed myself with and maybe ... read more

Met a lot of Gary's family and his aunt's cute dog, Benwell (see pic). Windsor had great pizza too. We had a fun dvd night in our holiday inn hotel room. ... read more

Hey, Just starting this thing up...So i managed to see everyone in the fam and i must say it has been way too dam long. The visit was awesome and i am looking forward to seeing everyone again in March, but until then i guess i will just have to put up with living in a tropical jungle for 3-4 weeks, surfing every break possible, relaxing (with beers in hand) on beautiful beaches and meeting amazing people. Figured i would rub it in a little. Thanks again everyone and i'll see you soon, bronzed with stories to tell. Shane. ... read more
