Alright, Welcome everyone, I'm sure many of you have seen this site before from my sisters travels, but if you haven’t, its simply a place where I can update people on my travels and post a few pictures. If you are reading this, it means I have added you to a mailing list that will receive an email every time I update this site. If you don’t want to receive these updates, you can take yourself off the mailing list on the travelblog website. If you know anyone else that wants to receive these updates then you can also add them on the same website. Where am I now? Well I'm still in Canada...last day of work here at NCR in Waterloo...and as you can tell I'm quite busy. But in 7 days myself, Audrey and ... read more

I leave next Thursday, Decemeber 21st, one week from today. I've been switched to a different ship which is disappointing. It's an old ship and it only sails the Bahamas for 3 and 4 day cruises. It's the "Sensation": http://www.carnival.com/Ship_Detail.aspx?shipCode=SE . My boss did say we can look at switching me later in the contract which would be nice. The best part is I'll be coming back June 7th - in time to do two weeks of tours for Keating, including Orchard Park! I feel terrified. I'm all shaky. Chris just said I seem more nervous about going on a cruise ship than I did about going to Africa. It's true. ... read more

Now my test results are fine. An hour ago I was stressed that they wouldn't be. Now they're okay and I'm worried that they'll need more or they won't need anything and now I'm leaving the country in 10 days. I don't know. Am I? Maybe. Maybe not. Zack (my boss at Carnival) will be calling me tomorrow. I'm overtired from working on the Wax Wing show and doing time in the Keating office. I'm excessively emotional. Everything to do with going away right now feels extremely overwhelming.... read more

TORONTO PART 2! Thought Id update about how my final time in TO was - there are now photos up (in case you hadnt noticed) - Woohoo! You can see them at http://s143.photobucket.com/albums/r141/michty6/ and Ill update that as well as I go along... After the wonders of Hooters, Aussie Matt decided to go exploring elsewhere, so he has left for Montreal, where he tells us 'It's fucking cold' (wow - big surprise!). We had a drink or ten for his leaving night... Karaoke in TO will never be the same now he's gone. Have decided that all guys from Aussie are now going to be called Aussie xxxx - just cos its funny! I attended my first ever NBA game - the Toronto Raptors v Boston Celtics, as the hostel had arranged a trip there. I ... read more

For years I have wanted to work on a cruise ship. Five weeks ago, I was offered a job with Carnival Cruise Lines to be their newest "Club o2" Director (supervisor of entertainment for 15-17 year olds). When hired it seemed so exciting and soon, but then this wait game began. Waiting for medical approval. Two days ago, I got all of my medical reports sent off. I got my tentative ship, home port and travel assignment. Extreme nerves set in, but under all that began anticipation and excitement. Yesterday I was told that the medical department needs an explanation for low calcium, protein and sodium. And therefore I won't be going until they get it. Back to waiting.... read more

Apologies for the lack of updates guys. I just haven't been doing anything worth writing home about. In my last blog, I mentioned I started work as a chef. Well, that lasted all of three days. What can I say, I couldn't take the heat so I got out of the kitchen. Twirling crepes wasn't my idea of fun. So I land this brain-dead job as an IT Security Administrator at a retail chain called Best Buy. It was tough work though... tough trying to stay awake each day. Come to think of it, I also slept on the bus and train to and from work. Maybe it's chronic fatigue. Or maybe it's because it was the first office job I had since leaving Sydney and I couldn't get back into the 9 to 5 routine. ... read more

TORONTO - PART 1! Sorry for the prolonged update. Is gonna be quite a big post, will try to update more often! I will put up some pics too, shortly... Well I can honestly say I am having a fantastic time in Toronto! Its a wonderful city and I settled to it very quickly. I am staying in a hostel called Canadiana Backpackers, which is very nice and great fun. They serve pancakes with maple syrup for breakfast every morning, which was good at first but the novelty wore off quickly...my plan is to fly to Quebec on December 9th, then head to Montreal before Ottawa for Christmas. If the next 9 ½ months pf my trip is as amazing as the first it is going to be out of this world! I had a quiet ... read more

Hello all (make sure to click on the video of me scuba diving!), Well, I am now back in the Great White North. Although my trip has now come to an end, I must still record for you its final leg. My last blog entry left me in Ciudad Bolivar, a small town in the heart of Venezuela and also the gateway to Angel Falls. Angel Falls is the highest waterfall in the world at 979 meters, 807 of which are uninterrupted (16 times higher than Niagara in case you were wondering). Getting to the falls, however, is no easy feat. The only way to get to there is to take an hour long plane ride from Bolivar to a small village named Canaima. Once landed, you must then hop in a small banana boat and ... read more

Well it's that time again, time to head out on another international adventure. This time it's going to be Brazil, Rio de Janeiro to be more precise and I'll be accompanied by my friend/roommate Kris and our other buddy Mladen a.k.a Marco who we met in Cuba last year. I'm going to try and keep this little travel blog up-to-date and post as many pics as possible before my digital camera gets stolen, which is inevitable from what I hear, but at least that will give me an excuse to buy a new one :) I'm expecting this to be much different from my Japan excursion. In Japan, the crime was non-existant, everything was big, clean, new, futuristic, the people were plentiful and I stuck out like a sore thumb. This time around, I may be ... read more
