Well the time has arrived. I didn't have a lot of money for this trip so one way to save was to take a bus instead of flying. I checked around a bit and find out the bus was not that comfortable. In particular the overnight bus attracts sketchy people and was not easy to sleep on. Unfortunately I was out of options so I decided to tough it out. I arranged for a friend to drive me down to the bus terminal in downtown Toronto but unfortunately I had forgotten to tell her that it was in Toronto and she arrived to late to drive me. I am experienced traveler so I always have a fast backup plan in case something like this happens so I quickly drove to Toronto and parked in a nearby ... read more

I love driving and always make it a point to drive to destinations rather than take a flight or bus. The farthest I have been to, from my home in Toronto, has been the Grand Canyon. In this article, I will take you through a list of things that Canadian drivers must know when they cross the border into the United States. One thing I have heard from friends in the United States is that it is easier for the friends from the south to visit Canada than it is for the Canadians who plan on travelling to the United States. That being said, travelling by road across the border is a breeze mostly; except that the US Border police is much more vigilant and strict than the Canadians. On our first trip across the border ... read more

I don't consider myself a massive traveller, although I love travelling. Yes, I do travel quite a bit. I stay away from home at least 3-4 months of the year when I have to visit countries in Asia (mainly India and China) for work. But when I do get back home, I make it a point to travel inside the country to know Canada better. I mostly drive. Driving gives me a pleasure and lets me enjoy the place and the experience better than travelling as a passenger on a flight or train. I have done nearly 9 overnight drives in the past two years. That's not a lot compared to many people here but for a guy who has a day job that includes extensive travelling, I consider this respectable. And this is the farthest ... read more

Lentokoneessa on kolme hydrauliikkajärjestelmää. Kone kaarsi ... read more

While I sip my tea in the local Starbucks, wishing I had something better to do, a man in CAR is being congratulated by his neighbours for burning his enemy and eating his flesh. This man is supposedly a Christian. The man he killed and ate, supposedly a Muslim, supposedly killed his wife and children. I can't suppose anything. The media is reporting on this story with horror. And fascination. I too am fascinated. The story of the Uruguayan football players whose plane crashed in the Andes, and who survived by eating their dead comrades, has haunted me ever since i heard it. I sided with those who made the decision, because of how they made the decision, jointly and democratically, and how they honoured the remains of those they cannibalized. It was more a celebration ... read more

Woke up to the sound of a rain storm. A glance at my cellphone said it was 5AM. We were planning on watching the sun rise from the roof but the cloudy sky and the rain made me go back to sleep. Danielle wasn't surprised when we woke up a few hours later to start the day. It took both of us to carry all the things Danielle and I purchased in the last 2 days. On our way out of the door we ran into a hostel employee at the front desk. We dropped off our key and I explained to her that our keys were switched with our neighbor. I had actually found this out last night when Danielle had gone to the bathroom and the door had opened with a confused but very ... read more

We had a nice visit with Aunt Janine, Uncle Bruce and Danny. The first day we stayed at the house for some rest. Me and Danny played video games. Dad went and visited his friend in Toronto. Uncle Bruce was in Houston Texas for work, so it was just me, Danny and Auntie Janine for supper. Later Auntie Janine went and picked up Dad from the train station and uncle Bruce got a ride home from a friend. The second day we went to Burlington and Dad got a new back pack at Mountain Equipment Co-op. We spent two hours there and one hour at Future Shop finding things out about the IPad mini-2. After shopping we went back to Oakville for supper. We had another day off so Uncle Bruce and I tried to go ... read more

Mom and Dad went in to the city of Sackville to sign some papers. Once that was done me and Dad hit the road! We drove to Edmunston and that as a treat we slept in a hotel. In the morning we went all the way through Quebec to Ottawa and stayed the night at Gary and Louise's house. The next morning we left to Toronto. On the way there we stopped at the National Canoe Museum in Peterborough. I loved it there! So many canoes, there was a exhibit on portable boats, one that was even a coat and a boat! There were canoes made of birch bark and kayaks made from animal hides it was amazing. The biggest canoe we saw was an actual Voyageur freighter canoe used in the fur trade We left ... read more

Toronto was quite an adventure. There had been a huge rain storm flooding basements that were, for the most part finished and used as living areas. I like these sorts of claims as they do not require a ladder to carry around. An adjuster can just walk down to the basement an do the inspection, not burn up on a hot roof. The people were, for the most part, really nice. Many would insist that I have coffee or would have a plate of cookies on the table and coffee made and we would need to sit down briefly before starting to inspect. Since I can’t eat wheat I couldn’t eat the cookies but that was probably better for keeping some extra weight off. Then, there was the town idiot who thought that even though I ... read more
