Three SistersUp at the Blue Mountains - the myth is that these are three Aboriginal princesses that were turned into rocks to protect them, and then the wizard who was going to undo the spell when there was peace
... [more]My final entry for now. I'm back in Toronto and after four months away it's surprisingly easy to fit back into a schedule. I've started at George Brown College and it's a one year program that I'm really excited about and is looking to be everything I thought it would be (and more!). However this means that my traveling is over for now.. here are some photos from my last days in Sydney as well as some pictures from Hong Kong where I spent Christmas and New Years with the family.. my last week in Sydney was amazing. My parents flew down to avoid the WTO protests, and some highlights:
- seeing Showstoppers at the Opera House
- 3 days in the Blue Mountains, including the Jenolan Caves. They were amazing... it really took my breath away.
- seeing The Sleeping Beauty ballet with my mum, done by the Australian Ballet
- dinner at Fish at the Rocks which was phenomenal. We took my dad there for his birthday
- lunch at The Tearoom on top of the QVB which has the best duck in the world.. it's the kind that just falls off the bone
- finally making it to
Jenolan CavesThese are naturally formed limestone caves just south of Katoomba. Some people actually get married inside!
King's Cross and seeing boutique hotels and these great little parts of Sydney that I couldn't believe I'd missed. You really have to know the right people to take you around.
- brunch at Bills 2 in Surry Hills. My gosh. I LOVE breakfast and this is hands down the best. They had the kind of scrambled eggs that are fluffy and smooth and the perfect shade of yellow.
- meeting people that changed my views of Sydney. I believe that one day I will move there.
Some highlights from Hong Kong:
- hanging out with university friends again
- dessert buffet at the Grand Hyatt. I make a point of going every time I'm back, and we book a month in advance and it is WORTH IT.
- high tea, also at the Grand Hyatt. I was addicted to their spring rolls and fried noodles.
- shopping with my mum. I now know everything you could ever need to know about pearls... and then some.
Some highlights of being back in Toronto:
- friends. they are amazing and I am being kept occupied with parties and events and even just hanging out with roommates in front of
Wentworth FallsNear Katoomba. I hate saying this but in comparison to Niagara...
the tv. It feels like home for now.
- school is keeping me active and I like my classes and the people in them.
- the weather. it's not too cold right now - just nice, where you can wear mild winter clothes and show off cute boots..
So signing off for now, but I will most definitely be writing here sometime soon.
Ciao.
Kenji and myselfThis is the night I got invited to go on a yacht by some guys I met at Pontoon. Kenji and I were having our last dinner out and celebrating in a big way. (eg. this is before the alcohol consumption)
Pt PiperMy favorite view of Sydney, from Pt Piper. I can't even begin to imagine how amazing the fireworks would have been on New Years.
Fish at the RocksMy mum, dad and aunt at my dad's birthday dinner. Check out the gorgeous food!
LighthouseI have no idea where this is, but it was a full moon and it took my breath away. I basically pointed and said "I want to go there" and this picture came out of it quite well.
Japanese lunchFelix, Mel, Caroline and I went to this great Japanese restaurant near the Excelsior, the kind where you take off your shoes and sit on the floor.
HK lightsHong Kong buildings all lit up, view from the Grand Hyatt Tiffin Lounge.
At the RegencyThe Hyatt Regency in TST just closed down and we went for afternoon tea with some friends from Canada.. the sign says 'Two for One' so Geoff and I decided to pose next to it.
