CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR Firstly, I have put up Montreal photos and am just about to put up photos of Christmas and New Year on my photo page http://s143.photobucket.com/albums/r141/michty6/ I was slightly hungover leaving Montreal to go to Ottawa, I had organised a carpool which turned out very well and Im going to try and do more now... The guy driving was called Jack and has just started up his carpool business (www.autotaxi.com), which he is also just about to expand by offering a Ottawa-Toronto route. He also believes that Quebec should be a separate nation from Canada, but not at the moment as they do not have a strong leader! I was heading to Ottawa, to meet one of my really good friends from Glasgow, Jenni, to spend Christmas with her family. Jenni and her ... read more

Seasons Greetings to you all! Clinton and I are currently in Canada's capital, Ottawa, visiting our good friend Derrick for Christmas. (For those who do not know him, we met him in Jacksonville when he was posted there too. We drove up here a couple of days ago, stopping at Lake Placid, NY (home of a couple of Winter Olympics, in case you're wondering where you'd heard of that before) to "warm up" for our snowboarding season ahead. Unfortunately the snowfall in this part of the world has been virtually non-existant, which is very unusual for this time of year, so the snow we were boarding on was of the delightful icy man-made type. What was there was spread in strips down the mountain, with the surrounding areas bare. Quite a weird thing to ride the ... read more

Hi everybody! Sorry I haven't had much news lately. The reason being; I've been back home! I am lucky enough to work for a company whose head office is in my hometown, so when I got sent there to develop some corporate policy with our execs, I was only too happy! Sorry I didn't mention anything sooner, but I was trying to surprise my folks, which I very happily did! The whole thing went something like this... On a Friday night near the end of October (after giving a presentation I'd been preparing for weeks) I attended a cocktail party for work, then jumped on a plane to come back to Canada. I was so excited to come back home and see my family and friends after 6 MONTHS straight on the African continent. I was ... read more

Ok, so im back from my thanksgiving weekend. If ur wondering why canada has an earlier thanksgiving than america its because they get their harvests first. Not because the pilgrims came here first and then went to america as i assumed!!!! lol!!! Well i was kindly invited to go home with my mentor Nancy for thanksgiving and I swiftly took her up on the offer to get an experience of a traditional family thanksgiving, I must say that it was!!! We travelled to her house where her dad, his girlfriend, her daughter and nancy's dog drove 3hours to their cottage. I was very surprised when we arrived at a small harbour and was told that we could only get to the cottage by boat!!!! I know, it's amazing!!!! Their cottage is on an island of its ... read more

"You have to run with your own feet to some place you haven't been before---to a new place. You have to leave the world where you have everything under your control. You have to leave the world where everybody likes you. You have to head into a world where you are poor and powerless. And there---you'll be converted, despite yourself." -Richard Rohr... read more
